Methimez 5 tablet is used to treat hyperthyroidism – a condition of overproduction of hormones by the thyroid gland. It contains methimazole as its active component. This medicine should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. Before starting Methimez 5 tablet, inform your doctor if you are pregnant/breastfeeding and about your complete medical history.

- You are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.
- You may develop a risk of blood disorders like anaemia, low white blood cells, etc. If you notice any symptoms, including fever or sore throat, report to the doctor immediately.
- If you experience any problems with your liver, symptoms may include weight loss, pain in the upper abdomen, urge to scratch, etc. The doctor will immediately ask for liver function tests.
- You may develop hypothyroidism (a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't produce enough thyroid hormone) and the doctor may suggest monitoring the TSH and T4 levels regularly during the treatment.

- Methimez 5 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
- Swallow it whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
- You should not consume more than that prescribed by your doctor.
