Metform SR-1000 Tablet

• If you are allergic to Metformin or any other ingredient of Metform Sr Tablet.
• If you have kidney failure.
• If you have several conditions such as dehydration, shock and severe infection.
• If you have acid-base imbalance in the body or diabetes complication such as diabetes ketoacidosis.
• If you have conditions such as heart failure, lung failure, shock, heart attack.
• If you have liver disease.
• If you had unconsciousness due to either extremely high or low blood sugar level.

• Nausea

Other General Warnings

• You have lactic acidosis (acid-base imbalance) characterised by difficulty in breathing, abdominal pain, muscle cramps, dehydration.
• You have altered kidney function.
• You have heart disease such as heart failure.
• You have planned surgery.
• You have or are going to administered any contrast medium in the body
• Metform Sr Tablet should not be used in children below 10 years of age.

• Store this medicine below 25°C in a cool and dry place.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep product out of reach and sight of children and pets.

• Swallow it whole and never crush, cut, or chew it.
• Take Metform Sr tablet with food, typically with your evening meal, to help reduce common side effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhoea.
• Take the medication at the same time each day helps it work most effectively.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
• A healthy diet, regular exercise, and maintaining proper hydration are all crucial for diabetes management.
• Your doctor may also recommend regularly monitoring your blood sugar levels.
• While most are mild, a condition called lactic acidosis can occur. Seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms like unusual muscle pain, severe tiredness, trouble breathing, or persistent stomach pain.
• Tell your doctor about all other medications, vitamins, and supplements you are taking. Certain medicines, including some used for blood pressure, diuretics, or other diabetes medicines, can affect how Metform Sr Tablet works or increase your risk of side effects.
• Avoid excessive alcohol while taking this medication, as it can increase the risk of serious side effects.
• Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems, as this medication may not be suitable for you.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Interactions with other medicines

• Verapamil, rifampicin, cimetidine, olaparib alter the effectiveness of Metform Sr Tablet in the body.
• Diuretics and thiazide, oral contraceptives, isoniazid, corticosteroids, phenytoin, nicotinic acid, calcium channel blockers, thyroid medicines, oestrogen tablets, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptors antagonists, etc. increases blood sugar levels and can cause damage in the kidneys, especially in individuals who are suffering from kidney disorders.
