Merobax Sb 1.5gm Injection

• If you are allergic to meropenem, sulbactam or any other ingredients of Merobax Sb injection.
• If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotics, such as penicillins.

• Inflammation at the injection site
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea or vomiting
• Headache
• Rash

Other General Warnings

• You have a history of allergies to penicillin or similar antibiotics, as you may be at risk for a serious allergic reaction.
• You have kidney problems, seizures, epilepsy, or are taking valproic acid, as this medication may increase seizure risk or interact with your current treatment.
• You develop diarrhoea during or after treatment, as it could be a sign of a serious intestinal infection.
• You are pregnant, have issues with sodium or fluid balance, or if your child is receiving this medication, to ensure safe use.
• Your symptoms worsen or new ones appear, as prolonged antibiotic use can lead to the development of resistant or new infections.
• You feel confused, dizzy, or experience tremors or tingling, and avoid driving or using machines until you know how the medicine affects you.

• Merobax Sb injection will be given to you in the hospital by your doctor or nurse. Do not self-inject this medicine.
• Follow any instructions suggested by the doctor or nurse during the procedure or for aftercare.

• Store this medicine at a temperature of 25 °C or below.
• Protect it from light and heat.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Any unused portion should not be stored and discarded properly.

How Does It Work?

• Meropenem is a powerful antibiotic that kills bacteria responsible for serious infections. It works by preventing the bacteria from building their protective outer wall, which is essential for their survival. Without this wall, the bacteria break apart and die, aiding your body in fighting the infection more effectively.
• Sulbactam is a medication that enhances the effectiveness of certain antibiotics by preventing bacteria from breaking them down. Some bacteria produce special enzymes that can render antibiotics ineffective, thereby reducing the effectiveness of treatment. Sulbactam blocks these enzymes, so the antibiotic can do its job and kill the bacteria. On its own, sulbactam doesn't treat infections, but when combined with other antibiotics, it helps treat tough bacterial infections more effectively.

Interactions with other medicines

• Taking probenecid with meropenem can raise the level of meropenem in your blood, so using them together is not recommended.
• If you are taking valproic acid (a seizure medicine), adding meropenem may lower its levels in your blood, which can raise the risk of having seizures. Extra seizure medicine may be needed if meropenem must be used.
• Sulbactam may interact with a group of antibiotics called aminoglycosides (such as tobramycin, amikacin, and gentamicin), especially at high concentrations in laboratory studies. However, this interaction is unlikely to occur in the body at normal doses.
• Taking sulbactam with probenecid can slow the rate at which sulbactam is eliminated from your body.
• Some possible interactions reported with sulbactam may actually be due to the other antibiotic it's combined with, rather than sulbactam itself.
