Medical Description
Mahacef-Plus tablet is used to treat typhoid fever and urinary tract infections. Its active ingredients are a combination of cefixime and ofloxacin. Mahacef Plus fights against infection-causing bacteria, thus preventing their growth and spread.
Take medicine as prescribed for the advised duration. You should take Mahacef Plus with meals to avoid stomach upset. Do not stop taking medicine on your own without the knowledge of the doctor. Zifi O 200 tablets, Taxim Of tablets, Cefix O tablets, Ceftas O tablets and Zanocin Plus tablets are some other medicines with a combination of cefixime and ofloxacin.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and dizziness are some common side effects of the Mahacef-Plus tablet. Most of them are temporary, but if you feel the side effects persist or your condition worsens, you should contact your doctor immediately.
Mahacef Plus tablets should not be used in children under 18 years of age. Before starting Mahacef Plus, you must inform the physician if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. You must also inform the doctor about the medicines and herbal supplements you take and the conditions or diseases you suffer from.

- If you may have an allergic to cefixime, ofloxacin or other ingredients of the Mahacef-Plus tablet.
- If you may have an allergic to Cephalosporins like cefuroxime, Fluoroquinolones like ciprofloxacin.
- If you may have a history of fits or brain-related disorders.
- If you may have a history of tendon disorder.
- Mahacef Plus must not be given to children or growing adolescents as it may interfere with their growth.
- If you may have a family history of red blood cell disorder (defects in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity).
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

- You experience suicidal thoughts.
- You are experiencing vision disturbances.
- You have a kidney problem, and you are on dialysis.
- You have diarrhoea, cramps, pain and fever after taking this medicine.
- You have blood disorders like anaemia and inherited blood disorder (G6PD deficiency).
- You are experiencing irregular heartbeats, low potassium levels or have had heart disease.
- You are experiencing fits, difficulty in movement, confusion, and other mental disorders (Psychosis).
- You have problems related to the liver and kidney, and you are taking medicine to prevent blood clotting.
- You are experiencing pain, a pins-and-needles sensation, numbness and weakness in various body parts.
- You have a history of tendonitis (inflammation of the tissue that connects muscles to bone) after taking antibiotics or myasthenia gravis.
- You experience allergic reactions including serious skin allergies in different body parts (fluid-filled blisters, bumps, rashes and skin degradation).
- If you are a diabetic taking medicines, caution is needed, as this medicine can cause low blood sugar. Close monitoring of blood glucose may be needed.
Directions for Use
- Mahacef-Plus 200 mg tablet must be taken as directed by the doctor.
- Swallow as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- Take it with or without food.
- Take the medicine at a fixed time for optimal results.
- Complete the course as prescribed by the doctor.

- Store Mahacef-Plus tablets below 25°C at a cool and dry place.
- Protect it from moisture.
- Keep it away from children and pets.

- Mahacef Plus tablet is a higher antibiotic reserved for specific infections only. Do not self-medicate with this medicine. Take proper medical advice before taking this medicine.
- Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding. If you conceive while taking this medicine, stop taking this medicine immediately and inform your doctor.
- Also, inform your doctor about all other medicines that you take and your complete medical history.
- Headache, stomach pain, and nausea/vomiting may occur in some individuals with the use of this medicine, inform your doctor if the side effects do not resolve over time.
- If you experience dizziness or sleepiness after taking Mahacef Plus tablet, it is recommended to avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing any such tasks that require mental alertness.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines affect the way Mahacef-Plus tablet works, or the medicine itself reduces the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform the physician about the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are taking or might take to avoid possible interaction.
- The Mahacef-Plus tablet must be taken at least two hours before taking acidity medicines, preparations containing zinc and iron and certain anti-HIV drugs like Didanosine.
- Increase the risk of fits if you are taking medicines to treat asthma-like theophylline, to reduce inflammation (Ibuprofen).
- Must be used with caution if you are taking medicines that alter the heart rhythm like Quinidine, Hydroquinidine, Disopyramide, antidepressants like Clomipramine, Amitriptyline, antibiotics like Erythromycin, Clarithromycin and Azithromycin.
- You may experience low blood sugar if you are taking medicine for diabetes like Glibenclamide.
- The medicine interferes with the working of blood-thinning medicines like Warfarin.
- You may experience tendon rupture if you are taking medicines used to treat inflammation and pain (corticosteroids) like betamethasone, and prednisone.
