Licopin Lt Tablets
Description
tablet is a tablet that helps treat mild to moderate high blood pressure. It combines losartan, which blocks a hormone that tightens blood vessels and causes your body to retain salt and water, with amlodipine, which relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into their muscle walls. Together, they help lower blood pressure and reduce strain on your heart.
Take this medicine exactly as your doctor instructs. Once a day, with or after a meal, swallowed whole with water. It is important to take it at the same time each day. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next one, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Never double up on a dose.
Some people may experience side effects like nausea, headache, dizziness, tiredness, flushing, swelling, stomach pain, heartburn, body aches, or diarrhoea. Be especially careful if you take other blood pressure drugs, potassium supplements, lithium, NSAIDs (like ibuprofen), or aliskiren, because these can further lower your blood pressure or affect kidney function and potassium levels.
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to its ingredients, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Store it in a cool, dry place away from children and pets. Avoid alcohol and do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel dizzy. In case of overdose or if you have severe reactions like very low blood pressure, fast heartbeat, or trouble breathing, seek medical help right away.

Overdose
Missed a Dose
- If you miss any dose of tablet, take it as soon as you remember with food. However, if it is time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up....
- Blood pressure medications should be taken regularly to prevent undesirable events that can occur due to high blood pressure if not taken on time.
Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Losartan lowers blood pressure by blocking the hormone angiotensin II, which prevents blood vessels from tightening and signals the kidneys to retain less salt and water, thereby helping vessels relax, reduce fluid, and ease strain on the heart....
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into the smooth muscle cells. This helps lower blood pressure and eases the workload on your heart by improving blood flow.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Other blood pressure-lowering medicines should be used carefully with Losatan Am Tablet as it can lead to an excessive drop in blood pressure.
- Medicines that increase potassium levels in the body, including certain water pills (such as spironolactone and amiloride) and potassium supplements, should be used with caution.
- Medicines containing lithium, used for mental disorders, if taken along with other medications, can lead to increased levels of lithium in the body and increase the chances of getting side effects. Regular monitoring of lithium levels in the body is advised....
- The blood pressure-lowering effect of Losatan Am Tablet can be reduced by concomitant use of painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicines.
- Aliskiren, a medication used to treat high blood pressure, can lead to reduced blood pressure, faintness, loss of consciousness, and affect kidney function if taken along with other medications. Hence, it should be avoided....
