• If you are allergic to gabapentin and nortriptyline or any of the other ingredients of Gabapin Nt Tablet.
• If you are taking certain medicines (MAO Inhibitors) for some psychiatric disorders.
• If you have experienced a recent heart attack, blockage in the heart, the disturbed rhythm of the heart.

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Constipation
• Sleepiness
• Dry mouth
• Feeling tired or weak
• Excessive sweating

Other General Warnings

• You experience suicidal thoughts or changes in mood and behaviour.
• You have severe kidney disorders, liver disorders or disorders related to pancreas.
• You are suffering from problems related to the heart like blockage of heart, history of heart failure, abnormal rhythm of the heart.
• You are taking medicine for some psychiatric disorders.
• You have difficulty breathing or any other respiratory illness.
• You are above 65 years of age.
• You experience any abnormal symptoms after taking this medicine, report to your doctor. Do not stop the medicine on your own.
• Wear full clothes and apply sunscreen when stepping into bright sunlight as this medicine can make you sensitive to the sun.
• Inform your doctor if you are scheduled for any surgery or dental procedure involving local or general anaesthesia.

• Gabapin Nt Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
• Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
• It can be taken with or without meals.
• It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
• You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

• Store Gabapin Nt Tablet at a temperature below 30°C
• Keep it away from children and pets

• Gabapin NT 200 Tablet treats nerve pain specifically; it does not help ordinary aches, sprains or headaches.
• Leave at least two hours between any antacid and this medicine, as antacids reduce gabapentin absorption.
• Gabapentin helps within one to two weeks, but the nortriptyline component may take two to four weeks.
• The largest dose is usually taken in the evening because drowsiness is the commonest effect.
• Do not drive, cycle or operate machinery until you are sure how the medicine affects you.
• Avoid alcohol, which adds dangerously to sedation and unsteadiness.
• Never stop this medicine suddenly; it must be tapered under medical guidance.
• Tell your doctor before combining it with tramadol, codeine or any opioid painkiller.
• Watch your weight and report swelling of the ankles that worsens or comes with breathlessness.
• Increase fibre and fluids for constipation, and sip water for dry mouth.
• Report difficulty passing urine, eye pain, blurred vision or an irregular heartbeat.
• Tell your doctor about any kidney problem, as the gabapentin dose must be reduced.

Overdose

Missed a Dose

• Gabapin NT 200 Tablet tackles nerve pain at two separate points. Gabapentin binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels on nerve endings. Damaged nerves develop an excess of these channels, which makes them fire spontaneously and flood the spinal cord with excitatory chemical messengers. By occupying that site, gabapentin reduces the release of those messengers and settles the overactive nerve.
• Nortriptyline blocks the reuptake of noradrenaline, and to a lesser extent serotonin, in the spinal cord and brain. These chemicals power the descending pathways that the nervous system uses to suppress pain signals travelling upwards. Keeping more of them in circulation strengthens this natural braking mechanism.
• Because gabapentin reduces the pain signal being generated while nortriptyline improves the body's ability to block it, the two together relieve nerve pain more completely than either can alone, often allowing lower doses of each and fewer side effects.

Interactions with other medicines

• Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
• Concomitant use with medicines for psychiatric disorders such as moclobemide, phenelzine, iproniazid, isocarboxazid, nialamide, or selegiline (used to treat Parkinson's disease) can lead to serious side effects (serotonin syndrome).
• Concomitant use with medicines for cough and cold containing ephedrine, isoprenaline, noradrenaline, phenylephrine and phenylpropanolamine can increase the side effects of drowsiness.
• You should also tell your doctor if you take or have recently taken medicine that may affect the heart's rhythm.
• Water Pills such as Furosemide, medicines to treat irregular heartbeats such as quinidine and sotalol should be used cautiously.

Interactions with food items

• Gabapin NT 200 Tablet may be taken with or without food, although taking it after a meal can reduce nausea.
• Antacids are the key practical point. Aluminium and magnesium antacids cut gabapentin absorption by about a fifth, so leave at least two hours between the antacid and this medicine. If you need regular acid treatment, ask your doctor about an alternative.
• Avoid alcohol, which adds dangerously to sedation and unsteadiness and substantially increases the risk of falls, especially in older people.
• Weight gain is common with both components. Controlling portions, limiting fried and sugary foods and staying active from the outset is much easier than reversing the gain later.
• Increase fibre through whole grains, fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water to counter constipation, and sip water or chew sugar-free gum for dry mouth.
• If you have diabetes, maintaining good blood sugar control is itself an essential part of treating diabetic nerve pain.
