Fluanxol 0.5mg Tablet
Fluanxol 0.5 MG Description
Fluanxol Tablet is used to treat schizophrenia and depression with or without anxiety. This medicine contains flupentixol as its active ingredient in the neuroleptic group of medicines. Fluanxol Ta
blet increases the levels of mood-elevating and thought regulating chemicals in the brain. It does so by blocking the binding sites of these chemicals. This results in elevation of mood and relief from the negative symptoms of schizophrenia and depression. Side effects of Fluanxol Tablet include vomiting, muscle stiffness, dryness of mouth, vision problem and abnormal movements. Most of the side effects are more pronounced at the treatment's beginning. They subside on their own as the treatment is continued. Fluanxol Tablet starts acting fast after the treatment is started. It has a low risk of being dependent on it. While stopping the medicine, it should be withdrawn gradually to avoid severe withdrawal effects such as vomiting, abnormal movements, low blood pressure, and dizziness. Fluanxol is started as a single morning dose and slowly increases if required. Older adults are given half of the recommended dose and monitored for side effects.
