- Treatment of Depression
- Treatment of Anxiety disorder.
Contraindications
- You have hypersensitivity to any of the components of the Esopam Tablet.
- You have a history of alcohol or medicine addiction.
- You are already using other anti-anxiety or sedatives, as they can interfere, they can cause adverse reactions.
- You have acute angle glaucoma, it increases the fluid pressure in the eyes.
- You have liver disease.
- You have kidney disease.
- You are a patient with breathing difficulty.
- You have a heart condition.
- You are pregnant and a lactating mother.
Side effects
- Insomnia
- Sexual dysfunction (decreased libido, anorgasmia, and male ejaculatory delay)
- Nausea
- Increased sweating
- Fatigue
- Confusion

Directions for Use
- Take a Esopam Tablet exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
- You can take it with or without food.
- Do not exceed the dosage, even if you cannot feel its effects.
- Take the capsule as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break the capsule or chew this medicine.
- Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly, as it can lead to withdrawal effects.
- Do not take it with other medications without informing your doctor.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and non prescription medications, herbal products, vitamins and nutritional supplements, you are taking or plan to take as there is a chance of drug Interaction. Many medicines can interact with Esopam Tablet, making it less effective or increasing side effects.
- This includes-MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) like Selegiline, Rasagiline, Isocarboxazid, etc., is strictly contraindicated as it may cause serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome can also be induced by antidepressants, triptans, fentanyl, lithium, tramadol, tryptophan, buspirone, amphetamines. These are also contraindicated.
- Azole antifungals, clarithromycin or CYP2C19 inhibitors (e.g. fluconazole, fluvoxamine, omeprazole) interaction may cause increased serum level.
- Antidepressants like Imipramine and desipramine may interact with escitalopram and lead to very high blood pressure.
- NSAIDs, Aspirin, and other medications which affect coagulation may interact and can increase risk of bleeding.

- You can continue with the usual diet as food doesn’t influence the effect of Esopam Tablet. Consult your doctor about any supplements or herbal drinks you are currently taking before using this medicine.
