Medical Description

Esopam Plus Tablet is a prescription medication commonly used for treatment of depression & anxiety disorders. Anxiety and other mood disorders affect how you feel, and it is always accompanied by major depressive disorder. Esopam Tablet helps stabilise the mood by lowering the excess activity of nerves in the brain. It can also cause a relaxing mood and sedation effect. Esopam Tablet is a combination medicine which contains clonazepam (0.5 mg) and escitalopram (10 mg) as their main ingredient. Escitalopram works on the brain to prevent the re-uptake of serotonin, thereby increasing the level of serotonin in the nerve cells. Serotonin is responsible for controlling various behavioural processes, including anger, appetite, mood, fear, memory, and stress response, etc. Clonazepam causes calming effects on the brain by increasing an inhibitory neurotransmitter called GABA and increasing the synthesis of serotonin. It is suggested to take Esopam Tablet after the prescription of the doctor. Tell your doctor about the history of past illness and the medications you are taking. The dose of Esopam Tablet should be carefully monitored, especially in older patients and patients with liver and kidney disorders. Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Esopam Tablet is a combination medicine which contains clonazepam (0.5 mg) and escitalopram (10 mg). Escitalopram is a medicine belonging to Selective Serotonin Re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) class. Serotonin or 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) is responsible for modulating various behavioural processes, including memory, mood, appetite, fear, anger, stress response, addiction, sexuality etc. Increased serotonin levels directly improve the mood and relieve the user’s symptoms. It acts by preventing the re-uptake of serotonin by the nerve cells, thereby increasing its concentration. This process results in an increased effect of serotonin in the central nervous system. Clonazepam acts dually by increasing serotonin synthesis and acting as a GABA-A receptor agonist. GABA stands for Gamma Amino Butyric Acid, and it is an inhibitory neurotransmitter. By binding to the GABA-A receptor, it enhances the inhibitory effects of GABA, resulting in sedative, anti-anxiety, and muscle relaxant properties.
