Medical Description

Enteegee injection is used in hospital care for certain angina-related chest pain and selected situations where reducing the heart's workload is needed. It contains nitroglycerin, also called glyceryl trinitrate, which relaxes blood vessels. By widening veins, the medicine reduces the amount of blood returning to the heart, while widening arteries can reduce resistance and improve blood flow, so the heart needs less oxygen. Enteegee injection is given by a doctor or nurse, usually into a vein, in a hospital or clinic with monitoring, and is not for self-injection.

Uses

  • Angina-related chest pain: Nitroglycerin widens blood vessels and can relieve chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart during monitored hospital treatment.
  • Heart workload reduction: By reducing the heart's oxygen demand, the injection supports selected hospital treatments that require close blood pressure and heart monitoring.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use Enteegee injection. Do not use it with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil or similar medicines for erectile or sexual function, or with riociguat, because blood pressure can fall dangerously. Tell the doctor before treatment if you have very low blood pressure, severe anaemia, increased pressure inside the skull, a recent head injury or certain heart valve problems.

Side effects

  • Headache: Blood vessel widening can cause a throbbing headache during or soon after treatment. Tell the medical team if it becomes severe or does not settle.
  • Dizziness: A fall in blood pressure may make you light-headed, especially when sitting or standing. Stay seated or lying down and alert the medical team.
  • Flushing: Increased blood flow near the skin can make the face feel hot and look red. Report severe flushing or faintness immediately.
  • Low blood pressure: Widened vessels can lower pressure too much, causing weakness or fainting. The medical team should know at once if you feel close to fainting.
  • Fast heartbeat: The heart may beat faster as blood pressure falls. Tell the medical team promptly if this comes with chest pain, breathlessness or severe dizziness.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or could be pregnant. Use Enteegee injection during pregnancy only when the hospital team considers it necessary.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. The hospital team will weigh the need for treatment and any possible effect on the baby.

Driving

Driving

Do not drive or operate machinery after treatment until your doctor confirms that your blood pressure and alertness are stable.

Directions for Use

This injection will be given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic. Do not self-inject. It is usually given into a vein with controlled monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate. Tell the medical team immediately if you develop severe headache, faintness or worsening chest pain.

Storage and disposal

Enteegee injection is stored and handled by the hospital or clinic according to the product instructions. Do not store or use it at home unless a qualified healthcare professional has specifically arranged this.

Quick Tips

  • Tell the hospital team about all medicines, especially sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil or similar treatments for erectile or sexual function.
  • Report fainting, severe headache, breathing difficulty or worsening chest pain immediately.
  • Remain seated or lying down if you feel dizzy during treatment.
  • Do not self-inject or use a preparation intended for another route.
  • Mention recent head injury, very low blood pressure or heart valve disease before treatment.

Dosage

Overdose

An overdose may cause severe headache, flushing, dizziness, fainting, fast heartbeat, breathing difficulty or dangerously low blood pressure. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Inside blood vessel walls, nitroglycerin forms nitric oxide, a natural relaxing signal. This relaxes the vessel muscles, widening veins so less blood returns to the heart and widening arteries so blood can meet less resistance. The result is a lower heart workload and oxygen need, with improved blood flow to heart muscle.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Enteegee injection works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, never combine it with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil or similar medicines for erectile or sexual function, riociguat, other nitrate medicines, blood pressure medicines, water tablets or medicines that cause dizziness, because blood pressure may fall severely.
