Elokic 5Mg Strip Of 10 Tablets

• Chronic constipation in adults, excluding constipation caused by an underlying structural problem such as a bowel obstruction, tumour, or hernia

• If you are allergic to elobixibat or any other ingredient in this medicine, as a serious allergic reaction may occur
• If you have a confirmed or suspected blockage in the intestine caused by a tumour or hernia, as this medicine may make the blockage worse

• Headache and dizziness
• Hot flushes
• Nausea
• Upper abdominal pain and general abdominal discomfort
• Softer stools than usual
• Raised liver enzyme levels (ALT, AST) in blood tests
• Raised creatine kinase (CK) levels in blood tests
• Increased eosinophil count in blood tests
• Low red blood cell count (anaemia)
• Raised vitamin E levels in blood tests
• Reduced LDL cholesterol levels in blood tests

Other General Warnings

• You develop severe or persistent abdominal pain, as this is one of the most common side effects and may require a dose reduction, a treatment break, or stopping the medicine
• You develop frequent, watery, or persistent diarrhoea, as this can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance and may require the dose to be reduced or stopped
• You have serious liver disease, as Elokic tablet works through the bile acid system and may not achieve its expected effect in patients with liver problems or reduced bile acid secretion
• You develop a skin rash or hives (urticaria) at any time during treatment, as this may indicate a hypersensitivity (allergic) reaction and the medicine may need to be permanently stopped
• You are taking digoxin (for heart conditions) or dabigatran (a blood thinner), as Elokic tablet can raise their blood levels and increase the risk of their side effects; closer monitoring will be needed
• You are taking ursodeoxycholic acid, chenodeoxycholic acid, cholestyramine, or aluminium-containing antacids, as these medicines can reduce the effectiveness of Elokic tablet when taken at similar times
• You are 65 years or older, as dose reductions may be needed and physiological functions generally reduce with age
• You have known kidney or liver problems, as these may affect how safely and effectively this medicine works
• You notice unusual blood test results including raised liver enzymes or creatine kinase levels during treatment, as regular monitoring may be needed

• Take Elokic tablet exactly as your doctor tells you
• Swallow the tablets whole with water before eating; taking this medicine before a meal is important for how well it works
• Your doctor will review your treatment regularly to check whether you still need to continue Elokic tablet, as aimless long-term use should be avoided

• Store at room temperature, not exceeding 30°C.
• Do not freeze.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Always remove the tablets from the blister strip before swallowing; never swallow the tablets while still inside the blister packaging, as the sharp plastic edges can cause serious injury to the food pipe
• Take Elokic tablet before a meal, not with or after food; food significantly reduces how much of this medicine your body absorbs
• Tell your doctor right away if you develop severe or persistent diarrhoea or abdominal pain, as your dose may need to be reduced or the medicine temporarily stopped
• Your doctor will review your treatment regularly; this medicine should only be continued as long as it is needed and is working

Overdose
