Medical Description
Elicia Tablet is used to treat mental disorders like schizophrenia, which affects a person's ability to think, feel and behave correctly. It has positive symptoms like confusion and hallucination and negative symptoms like lack of facial expression and decreased speaking. Elicia tablet is used to manage these symptoms of schizophrenia when the first line of treatment fails.
The active ingredient of the Elicia tablet is Blonanserin. It is an atypical antipsychotic medicine. It blocks receptors and increases dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain. These chemical substances help stabilise mood and prevent overactivity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Nausea, dizziness, vomiting, etc., are some of the side effects of Elicia tablets. It is vital to inform your doctor of any prescribed medicines being taken to check for any potential interactions and adverse effects. Also, persons suffering from heart diseases, kidney or liver problems, seizures, etc., or other previous conditions should inform their doctor. It is not meant for use in children under 18.
Uses
- As per CDSCO, Elicia tablet is used to treat acute and chronic schizophrenic disorders, in which both positive and negative symptoms are prominent.
Contraindications
- Do not take Elicia tablets or take with caution:
- If you are allergic to the blonanserin component of Elicia tablets.
- If you are already on other antipsychotic medications.
- If you are taking Levodopa to treat Parkinson's disease (psychotic condition).
- If you have a tumour in your adrenal gland (a condition called pheochromocytoma) or if you have been diagnosed with a prolactin-dependent tumour.
- If you have a family history of breast cancer or are diagnosed with breast cancer. Elicia tablets can increase prolactin (hormone) levels in the body.
- If you are planning for a pregnancy or are already pregnant.

Directions for Use
- Take Elicia tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the dosage, even if you cannot notice its effects.
- Do not break or chew the tablet.
- Do not use Elicia tablets with other medications without consulting your doctor.
- Do not consume this medicine if its packaging is broken.
- Do not stop using this medication abruptly, as it can cause adverse effects from withdrawal.
Storage and disposal
Store Elicia tablets in a dry area, away from direct sunlight and humid conditions. Dispose of the packaging carefully after use. Throw the tablets away if the package is broken. Check the expiration date before taking the medication. Keep away from children and pets.

Overdose
Elicia tablet overdose can cause dizziness, tremors, agitation, convulsion, nausea, vomiting, hypotension, increased heart rate, sleep disturbances, confusion, diminished reflexes, and coma. Consult emergency medical treatment from a nearby hospital immediately in the case of an accidental overdose.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of your Elicia tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If you recall the missed dose when it is almost time for the next one, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Consult your doctor if you have doubts about doses or missed more than one together. Do not take both doses together; it can lead to an overdose.

Elicia tablet consists of blonanserin as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of atypical antipsychotic medicines. Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with Levodopa tablets used for Parkinson's disease as they can cause severe adverse effects.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with other sedatives, heart medicines, antimalarial medicines, antihistamines, etc., as they can cause increased drowsiness.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with diuretics and laxatives as they can further lower potassium levels and cause adverse effects.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with medicines that lower heart rate as they can increase the risk of adverse effects.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with other antipsychotic, antidepressant, or anti-seizure medications as they can cause severe adverse effects.

- Eat simple food while on Elicia tablets. It is best to avoid spicy food.
