Uses
- As per CDSCO, Elicia tablet is used to treat acute and chronic schizophrenic disorders, in which both positive and negative symptoms are prominent.
Contraindications
- Do not take Elicia tablets or take with caution:
- If you are allergic to the blonanserin component of Elicia tablets.
- If you are already on other antipsychotic medications.
- If you are taking Levodopa to treat Parkinson's disease (psychotic condition).
- If you have a tumour in your adrenal gland (a condition called pheochromocytoma) or if you have been diagnosed with a prolactin-dependent tumour.
- If you have a family history of breast cancer or are diagnosed with breast cancer. Elicia tablets can increase prolactin (hormone) levels in the body.
- If you are planning for a pregnancy or are already pregnant.
Side effects

- Indigestion
- Blurred vision
- Constipation
- Tremors
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness

- You have a history of mild liver or kidney conditions.

- You have a heart condition or had a stroke.
- You have any suicidal or self-harming thoughts.
- You use herbal or ayurvedic medicines or supplements.
- You are over 65.
- You have diabetes. Monitor your blood glucose levels, as this medicine can cause fluctuations in blood glucose levels.
Directions for Use
- Take Elicia tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the dosage, even if you cannot notice its effects.
- Do not break or chew the tablet.
- Do not use Elicia tablets with other medications without consulting your doctor.
- Do not consume this medicine if its packaging is broken.
- Do not stop using this medication abruptly, as it can cause adverse effects from withdrawal.

Interactions with other medicines
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with Levodopa tablets used for Parkinson's disease as they can cause severe adverse effects.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with other sedatives, heart medicines, antimalarial medicines, antihistamines, etc., as they can cause increased drowsiness.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with diuretics and laxatives as they can further lower potassium levels and cause adverse effects.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with medicines that lower heart rate as they can increase the risk of adverse effects.
- Elicia tablets should not be taken with other antipsychotic, antidepressant, or anti-seizure medications as they can cause severe adverse effects.
Interactions with food items
- Eat simple food while on Elicia tablets. It is best to avoid spicy food.
