Doxcef 200mg Tab composition is cefpodoxime. This medicine is an antibiotic which belongs to the group of cephalosporins. It is used to treat bacterial infections and does not work in cold, flu or viral diseases.
Uses of Doxcef 200mg Tab
Bacterial infections like bronchitis (infection of the airway passage leading to lungs), pneumonia, gonorrhoea (a sexually transmitted disease) and infections of the ear, skin, tonsils, sinuses, throat and urinary tract are effectively treated with Doxcef 200mg Tab.
Contraindications of Doxcef 200mg Tab
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to it or suffer from an intestinal infection due to Clostridium difficile and in conditions showing abnormal liver function tests.
Side effects of Doxcef 200mg Tab
The Doxcef 200mg Tab side effects include diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea. At times, it can cause swelling of ankles, increased heartbeat, yellow discolouration of eyes and skin, changes in the quantity of urine (kidney problems) and easy bruising. Rarely, severe intestinal problems causing abdominal pain, persistent diarrhoea occur. Consuming this medicine for a longer duration than prescribed can cause oral and vaginal thrush where white patches appear in mouth and change in vaginal discharge is noted.

This medicine works by killing the bacteria, thereby restricting their growth.
Directions for Use of Doxcef 200mg Tab
Take the Doxcef 200mg Tab dosage every 12 hours for 5 to 14 days as instructed precisely by the doctor. It should be consumed with food since it helps in faster absorption. Continue the medication till the prescribed duration, since stopping in between can increase the risk of getting infected again.

Overdose of this medicine causes severe diarrhoea, abdominal pain, seizures, nausea, vomiting and headache. Talk to your doctor immediately in case of excess consumption.

Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one. If it is the time of the next dose, then skip the previous dose.
