Medical Description
Deworm tablet is an anti-worm medicine. It contains albendazole as its active ingredient. Deworm 400 tablet is used for treating stomach or intestinal infections caused by various worms. Albendazole in Deworm deprives the worm of glucose and energy source, thus killing the worm.
Some other tablets with albendazole are Noworm tablet, Bendex tablet, Zeebee tablet, Bandy chewable tablet and Abd tablet. Children below two years of age should not take Deworm 400. Side effects of this tablet include stomach discomfort or pain, gas and headache. If you experience any other effects after taking Deworm 400 tablet or if it worsens your condition, consult your doctor immediately.

Quick Tips
- Treat the whole household at the same time if one member has threadworm. Reinfection from an untreated family member is usually why the problem comes straight back.
- Hygiene matters as much as the tablet for threadworm: wash hands and scrub under the nails after using the toilet and before eating, keep nails short, wash bedding and nightwear, and bathe or shower in the morning.
- Take it with a meal containing some fat. Albendazole is poorly absorbed on an empty stomach, and absorption matters for worms that live outside the gut.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or might be, as deworming treatment is generally avoided in the first trimester and planned for later in pregnancy.
- Report any unusual tiredness, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, sore throat with fever, or unexplained bruising, particularly on longer courses, as these can indicate an effect on the liver or blood counts.
- A single dose clears most common intestinal worms, but some infections need a repeat dose after a couple of weeks to catch newly hatched worms. Follow your doctor's advice rather than assuming one tablet is the end of it.
