Combutol 800 MG Description

Combutol is an antibiotic that is used in the treatment as well as prevention of Tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that affects the lungs caused by a bacteria, namely Mycobacterium

tuberculosis. Combutol just works on bacterial infections and not for viral infections. Tuberculosis can be potentially dangerous and can also spread to the brain and spine. Combutol has Ethambutol hydrochloride as an active agent. It is commonly used in addition to other antitubercular drugs for treating Tuberculosis. It works by inhibiting the growth of the bacteria responsible for the disease. It is prescribed as a long term medication and must be taken daily.

Directions for Use of Combutol 800 MG

Combutol 800 should be taken according to the recommendation of a doctor. It is usually taken as a long term medicine in combination with other medicines.
It can be taken with or without food. However, try to take it preferably with food to avoid any stomach problems. Try to maintain a schedule and have the medicine at the same time every day.
You can feel better while taking the medicine during the treatment. Do not stop taking the dose without consulting your doctor.
The tablet has to be swallowed whole orally with a glass of water. The tablet should not be chewed, crushed or broken.
In case of a missed dose, take the tablet as soon as you remember the skipped dose. But if it is almost time for another one, consider sticking to the schedule.

Antacid- Antacids containing aluminium hydroxide makes the absorption of Combutol harder. Try to avoid any antacid for 4 hrs after taking medicine.
Cholera vaccine- If you take Combutol, it is advisable to wait for the vaccine.

Isoniazid
