Uses
- Coldact New Syrup is used in the treatment of symptoms of common cold and allergic rhinitis
Contraindications
- It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine, or any other components in this syrup.
- It is contraindicated in patients with asthma and sleep apnea.
- This medication is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
- Relative contraindications include:
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Heart diseases
- Hypertension (elevated BP)
- Glaucoma
- Urinary retention
- Impaired liver and kidney functions
Side effects
- Sedation
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Blurring of vision

Directions for Use
- This medication should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.

- Take this medication on a regular schedule, i.e., take it at the same time every day.
- Take this syrup for the entire duration recommended by your doctor. Abrupt stoppage can result in the recurrence of symptoms.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use with hypnotics and anti-anxiety medicines can cause an increase in sedation.
- Concomitant use with alcohol and other CNS depressants can worsen neurological side effects.
- Chlorpheniramine decreases the metabolism of phenytoin and can result in phenytoin toxicity.
- Side effects of Chlorpheniramine like dry mouth, constipation and other effects like urinary retention and increased intraocular pressure can occur when used concomitantly with MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) like Selegiline and Rasagiline.
