Other General Warnings

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
  • You have an active infection, as Cladrim injection can suppress the immune system and may increase the risk of serious infection.
  • You have low blood-cell counts, as Cladrim injection treatment can further reduce red cells, white cells, and platelets.
  • You have kidney impairment, as caution is advised because renal toxicity has been reported, particularly with high-dose treatment.
  • You develop severe weakness, difficulty moving your arms or legs, or other neurological symptoms, as serious neurological toxicity has been reported.
  • You develop unusual bruising or bleeding, as this may indicate a low platelet count.
  • You develop fever, particularly during the first month after treatment, because fever and serious infections are common during this period.

Directions for Use

This medicine will be diluted and given by a doctor or nurse through an intravenous infusion in a hospital or clinic. Do not self-inject.

Dosage

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Overdose

Too much may cause severe suppression of blood cells, nerve problems, kidney injury, or infection. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

How does this medicine work?

Cladribine enters certain abnormal blood cells and interferes with their DNA, causing those cells to die. This helps reduce the number of abnormal cells.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way cladribine works or increase bone marrow, kidney, or infection risks. Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. In particular, mention immune-suppressing medicines, live vaccines, medicines that affect blood counts, and medicines that can harm the kidneys.

No specific food interaction is established. Follow the treatment team's advice during therapy.
