Medical Description

Cibiriv Tablet is used to manage Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It is a chronic condition that induces inflammation of the large intestines. Relieving the unwanted effects such as abdominal pain, abdominal muscle spasms, and flatulence is the primary use of Cibiriv tablets. It is also helpful in lowering anxiety, often seen in patients with this condition, and creating a calming impact. This medicine contains three active components: Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium and Dicycloverine. The mode of action of Cibiriv tablets is to manage the activity of specific chemical substances in the body that lessens the overactivity of excited nerves. It provides ease from stomach discomfort, facilitates easy gas passing and relieves bloating. It also controls intestinal spasms. This medicine can also be used to treat abdominal spasms and cramps associated with different conditions like peptic ulcers, diarrhoea, enterocolitis, constipation, etc. Follow the doctor's direction for using Cibiriv tablets precisely as the doctor specifies. These tablets are not indicated for children and adolescents under 18. Cibiriv tablets have the potential to be habit-forming and can cause withdrawal symptoms.

Contraindications

  • It is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • If you were diagnosed with paralytic ileus (a situation in which the intestinal muscles have no regular movements)
  • If you have been prescribed particular antidepressant tablets
  • If you are expectant or intending to conceive
  • If you are breastfeeding
  • If you have disorders associated with the prostate, like prostatic hyperplasia
  • If you have severe liver or kidney illnesses
  • If you have a history of alcohol or substance abuse
  • If you have glaucoma (an eye condition)

How Does It Work?

Cibiriv tablet is composed of Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium and Dicycloverine. Chlordiazepoxide belongs to a benzodiazepine class of medication. It raises the activity of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a chemical messenger. GABA decreases the extreme activity of nerve cells in the brain. It blocks the production of stomach acids and reduces the anxiety associated with this disease. Clidinium and Dicycloverine are both antispasmodic medicines. They inhibit the action of acetylcholine, a natural substance in the body. They help soothe and calm the intestinal muscles, allowing ease stomach pain and cramps.

  • Do not use medicines like various antidepressants or antipsychotics with Cibiriv Tablets. They can lead to side effects such as sleepiness, vomiting, low heart rate, etc.
  • Try to avoid using medicines that induce drowsiness like opioid pain relievers, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, cough/cold medicine, and antihistamines (allergy medicine) with Cibiriv tablets can cause increased drowsiness and slow your breathing.
