Cheston Cold tablet is a combination medicine used to relieve common cold symptoms such as runny nose, fever, and nasal congestion. It contains three active ingredients: paracetamol, cetirizine, and phenylephrine. Take this medicine as prescribed for the exact duration prescribed. Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding without a doctor's advice. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor about all the medicines, herbs, and supplements you are taking, as well as any conditions or diseases you may have.
Okacet cold tablet, Oncet CF tablet, Wincold Z tablet, and Cozymin Plus tablet are some other medicines containing paracetamol, cetirizine, and phenylephrine.
This medication should not be used for children under the age of 12. It is advised to avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medication as it can lead to severe drowsiness. Some individuals may encounter headaches, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting after taking this medication. How Does It Work?
- Paracetamol inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, which is responsible for pain. It also acts on the thermoregulatory centre in the brain and blocks the effect of pyrogen (which is responsible for fever).
- Cetirizine inhibits the allergic symptoms produced by histamines (a certain chemical substance which is released by the body).
- Phenylephrine acts by constricting the arterioles of the nasal mucosa and helps in nasal decongestion.

Interactions with other medicines
- Always inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including all prescribed or non-prescribed herbal medicines, dietary supplements, and other treatments for any disorder.
- In particular, if you are taking medicines to stop vomiting or nausea, such as metoclopramide, domperidone, anticoagulants like warfarin, medicines used to treat brain-related diseases, such as alprazolam, antihypertensive medicines, muscle relaxants, antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, etc.
- Other medicines containing paracetamol or any topical decongestant containing Phenylephrine should not be used along with Cheston Cold tablet.
