Cefi 50 MG Description

Cefi Syrup is an antibiotic medicine containing cefixime as its main component. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections such as infections of the urinary tract, lungs, throat and airways,

gallbladder and bile duct. It works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of bacteria which ultimately kills the bacteria. Cefi Syrup should be taken as directed by the doctor and in the correct doses and for the exact duration as prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own as this may lead to antibiotic resistance and infection may reoccur.

Contraindications of Cefi 50 MG

If you are allergic to cefixime or any other ingredients of Cefi Syrup.
If you are allergic to any other Cephalosporin antibiotics including Penicillin.

Pregnancy

Can I take Cefi Syrup during pregnancy?

Breast Feeding

Can I drive if I have consumed Cefi Syrup?

Cefi Syrup can cause side effects like confusion, altered consciousness, feeling less alert, fits. If you experience any of these, don’t drive or use machinery.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Cefi Syrup?

How Does It Work?

Cefixime in Cefi Syrup works by stopping the growth of bacterial cell wall which eventually leads to the death of the bacteria.

Directions for Use of Cefi 50 MG

Take Cefi Syrup as directed by your doctor.
For reconstitution add boiled and cooled water, slightly below the mark on the bottle or as suggested by the doctor.
Shake it well and make the volume up to the given mark on the bottle.
Use a measuring cup, spoon or dropper for the exact quantity.
Reconstituted solutions should be used within the duration mentioned on the bottle.

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Cefi Syrup works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.

Especially, if you are taking medicines like carbamazepine (a medicine used to treat seizures, medications used for thinning of the blood such as Warfarin).

Dosage of Cefi 50 MG

Overdose

If you have taken too much of Cefi Syrup, seek medical care immediately, as this medicine may damage your brain.

Missed a Dose

It is advisable to complete the course of antibiotics and do not miss any dose. If you have missed taking any dose of Cefi Syrup, take it as early as you remember.
If it is the time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
