Busulmax 60Mg Injection

• Adults: Busulmax injection may be used with cyclophosphamide or fludarabine.
• Children: Busulmax injection may be used with cyclophosphamide or melphalan.

• If you have had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis or severe hypersensitivity) to busulfan or any of its other ingredients.
• If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.

• A decrease in circulating blood cell counts (intended effect of the medicine)
• Increased risk of infection
• Liver disorders (including blocking of a liver vein)
• Graft versus host disease (the graft attacks your body)
• Lung complications

• insomnia, anxiety, dizziness and depression
• loss of appetite
• A decrease in levels of magnesium, calcium, potassium, phosphate, albumin in the blood and an increase in blood sugar
• Increase in heart rate, an increase or decrease in blood pressure, widening of the blood vessels, and blood clots
• Shortness of breath, nasal secretion, sore throat, cough, hiccups, nosebleeds, abnormal breathing
• Inflammation of the lining of the mouth
• Nausea and vomiting
• Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn, discomfort in the opening of the anus, fluid in the abdomen
• Enlarged liver and jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes)
• Rash, itching and loss of hair
• Back pain, muscle pain and joint pain
• An increase in removal of waste product creatinine through urine, discomfort when passing urine, a decrease in the amount of urine passed, and bloody urine
• Fever, headache, weakness, chills, pain, allergic reaction, fluid build-up, general pain or inflammation at the injection site
• Chest pain
• Inflammation of the membrane which lines bodily organs
• High levels of liver enzymes
• Increase in weight
• Paralysis of the gut

• Confusion, nervous system disorders
• Low blood sodium (salt) levels
• Changes and abnormalities in heart rhythm, fluid retention or inflammation around the heart
• Decrease in the amount of blood that the heart pumps
• Increase in breathing rate, respiratory failure, bleeding from the air-filled sacs within the lungs, asthma, collapsing of small parts of the lung, fluid around the lungs
• Inflammation of the gullet (oesophagus) membrane and vomiting blood
• Skin discolouration, redness of the skin, scaly skin
• An increase in the amount of nitrogen within the blood and kidney disorder

• Severe confusion, nervousness, hallucination, anxiety, abnormal brain function, brain bleeding, and seizure
• Clotting of the artery in the thigh
• Fluid leakage from the capillaries (small blood vessels) and decreased blood oxygen levels
• Bleeding in the stomach and the gut

• Sex gland dysfunction
• Eye disorders, cataract, and blurred vision
• Menopausal symptoms and female infertility
• Brain abscess
• Inflammation of the skin
• Liver disorders
• An increase in lactate dehydrogenase enzyme
• An increase in uric acid and urea in the blood
• Incomplete development of teeth
• Increased blood pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs

Other General Warnings

• you have a liver, kidney, heart, or lung problem
• you have a history of seizures
• you plan to have children, since treatment with Busulmax injection can cause infertility.

• Busulmax injection is administered as an intravenous (IV) infusion before transplantation. Your doctor will determine the dosage and duration.
• Busulmax injection should only be administered by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinical setting. Do not self-administer this medication.

• Since Busulmax injection is administered in a hospital setting, appropriate storage and disposal will be followed by your healthcare team.
• Busulmax injection should be kept out of the sight and reach of children.
• Busulmax injection should not be used after the expiry date shown on the vial and carton.
• Store unopened vials in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.
• Busulmax injection should not be frozen.
• Once diluted, your healthcare team will store and administer Busulmax injection according to the recommended instructions.
• Do not dispose of unused medicine in household waste or wastewater. Ask your healthcare team how to dispose of it safely.

• Before starting treatment with Busulmax injection, you will be given anticonvulsant medicines to prevent seizures (fits) and antiemetic medicines to prevent nausea and vomiting.
• Your doctor will regularly monitor your blood counts and liver enzymes due to the risk of serious side effects.
• Busulmax injection may increase the risk of another malignancy in the future.
• There is a risk of blood clots in the small blood vessels after stem cell transplantation with a high dose of Busulmax injection along with other medicines.
• Proper contraception should be followed when receiving treatment with Busulmax injection. Women treated with Busulmax injection should not become pregnant for 6 months following treatment. Men treated with Busulmax injection should practice effective contraception for 6 months after treatment.
• Busulmax injection may cause symptoms of menopause in pre-adolescent girls and may prevent the onset of puberty.
