Biovac A injection helps to protect against hepatitis A infection. This vaccine contains inactivated and adsorbed Hepatitis A strain as the active ingredient.
Hepatitis A infection is caused by a virus that attacks the liver. Consuming contaminated food or drink can cause infection. Jaundice, and feeling unwell are the symptoms of infection.
Vaccines are used to protect you against infectious diseases. It activates the immune system to produce antibodies to fight the infection. This vaccine contains an inactivated form of hepatitis A and cannot cause the infection against which it protects you.
On injecting this vaccine body’s natural defence system produces protection against hepatitis A infection. It will not protect you against other viruses that attack the liver (such as hepatitis B, C, or E viruses). Inform your doctor if you have any health problems or are allergic to any medicine.

- If you are allergic to the active ingredient or any ingredients of Biovac A injection.
- If you are allergic to neomycin, an antibiotic used during vaccine production.
- If you have a fever inform your doctor, and the vaccination may be delayed until you have recovered.
- If you have liver disease.
- If you have a weakened immune system due to corticosteroids, radiotherapy or HIV infection that weakens your immune system.
- If you have haemophilia or any other condition where you bruise or bleed more easily.
