Bestor 5mg Tab composition includes rosuvastatin, which belongsto the statin group used to reduce the levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in the body.

  • Common side effects of Bestor 5mg Tab include headache, dizziness, nausea, heartburn, constipation and stomach ache
  • Severe side effects include myopathy in the form of muscle aches, lethargy and fever
  • In case of blood in urine, muscle pains, jaundice or elevated liver enzymes, inform your physician immediately
  • Rhabdomyolysis (abnormal muscle breakdown) is a serious condition with severe muscle aches, soreness, fever possibly leading to acute kidney failure

Can I take Bestor 5mg Tab during pregnancy?
It is unsafe to consume this medicine during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus. Use effective contraceptive if you are a woman of childbearing age, while taking this medicine.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Bestor 5mg Tab while breastfeeding?
The medicine may pass through the breast milk in small amounts and can harm the infant. Hence avoid taking this medicine while breastfeeding.


Can I drive if I have taken Bestor 5mg Tab?
Yes, you can drive after taking this medicine. However, avoid using heavy machinery in case you experience any side effects.


Can I consume alcohol with Bestor 5mg Tab?
It is unsafe to consume alcohol when taking this medicine as it increases the chances of liver dysfunction.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
  • If you have taken fusidic acid in the past 7 days or are currently on a medicine containing fusidic acid
  • Rosuvastatin and fusidic acid cannot be taken together as it leads to severe muscle aches
  • In case of liver or kidney problems, muscle aches, family history of muscle complaints, alcoholism
  • If you have had muscular complaints while taking cholesterol-lowering medicines in the past
  • Do not start, alter or stop this medicine on your own
  • Take precaution in the administration of this medicine to paediatric patients
  • The use of this medicine is restricted to prescriptional use

How Does It Work?

The medicine inhibits an enzyme reductase known as HMG-CoA leading to the lowering of LDL levels (bad cholesterol).

Interactions of Bestor 5mg Tab

Interactions with other medicines

  • Other statins as there is increased risk of myopathy
  • Antacids like aluminium hydroxide after consuming this medicine
  • Fusidic acid as it will lead to a severe side effect of muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Other medications like cyclosporin, warfarin, oral contraceptive pills, itraconazole, ketoconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin and HIV protease inhibitors reduce the levels of statins

Interactions with food items

Consume very less amount of grapefruit juice and avoid having oily food while on this medicine.

Other general Interactions

Avoid this medicine if you are suffering from liver disease, renal disease, diabetes, rhabdomyolysis, hematuria.

Storage and disposal of Bestor 5mg Tab

  • Store this medication away from the reach of children
  • Kindly avoid using this medicine beyond the date of expiry
  • This medicine needs to be stored in a closed container
  • Store at room temperature 68°F-77°F (20-25°C)
  • Keep this medicine in a cool and dry place

Missed a Dose

Take the missed dose the moment you remember. Do not take a double dose within 12 hours of each other.
