Azithral 500 Tablet

• Azithral 500 tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the ears, lungs, throat, tonsils, airways, nasal passages, skin, and soft tissue.
• It is also used to treat enteric fever and pneumonia or lung infection caused by contact with an infected person.

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Stomach/abdominal pain
• Indigestion

Other General Warnings

• You have heart problems or abnormal heart rhythms.
• You experience severe and persistent diarrhoea after taking Azithral 500 tablet.
• You have kidney or liver problems.
• You have muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).
• You have any neurological or psychiatric or mental health problems.
• You have low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood.
• You have any allergic reactions like swollen throat, face, rash, fever, breathing difficulty, or any other infection.

• Azithral 500 tablets should be taken as directed by your doctor. Typically, take one tablet per day, with or without food, and swallow it whole with a full glass of water.
• Take it at the same time every day. and finish the full course of the medication, even if you start feeling better. This helps ensure the infection is completely eliminated and prevents antibiotic resistance.

• Store Azithral 500 tablets in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

• If you are taking antacids, wait at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking Azithral 500 to avoid reduced effectiveness.
• Azithromycin may increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight, so it's recommended to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to prevent sunburn.
• While taking Azithral 500, drink plenty of water to help prevent stomach upset and dehydration, particularly if you experience diarrhoea.
• Observe for signs of allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing, and seek medical attention if they occur.
• Azithral 500 can upset the balance of gut flora, leading to symptoms like diarrhea. You may consider using probiotics to maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria during antibiotic treatment but consult your doctor before starting them.

Overdose

Missed a Dose

• Never miss your antibiotic medicine, as it can lead to treatment failure and the progression of infection.
• If you missed any dose of Azithral 500 tablet, take it as soon as you remember.
• If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule.
• Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.

How Does It Work?

Interactions with other medicines

• Discuss with your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbal preparations you are taking. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination schedule.
• Medicines used for migraine and headaches, such as ergotamine, should not be used concomitantly along with this tablet.
• You may experience irregular heart rhythm if you are taking this tablet concomitantly, along with medicines like cisapride, which is used to treat gastric reflux diseases.
• Azithral 500 may interact with certain medications. This includes medications for heart failure (e.g., digoxin), gout (e.g., colchicine), immune system suppression (e.g., cyclosporin), blood clotting (e.g., warfarin), and allergies (e.g., astemizole). Always disclose all medications you take to your doctor before starting Azithral 500.
