Augtax 1gm Injection

• If you are allergic to ceftriaxone, sulbactam, or any other similar antibiotics.
• If you have had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics in the past.
• If you are a newborn with jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
• If you are a newborn who needs calcium treatment via a vein.
• If you have ever had a severe reaction to medicines containing beta-lactam antibiotics.
• If your doctor has told you that you have severe liver and kidney problems simultaneously.

• Loose stools or diarrhoea
• Nausea or vomiting
• Mouth soreness or inflammation (stomatitis)
• Swelling or soreness of the tongue (glossitis)
• Skin rash
• Itching
• Hives (raised, itchy skin bumps)

Other General Warnings

• You have ever had a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics, especially penicillins, cephalosporins, or multiple allergens.
• You develop symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, or dizziness.
• You experience diarrhoea during or after treatment, especially if it is severe or contains blood, as this could be a sign of a serious gut problem (pseudomembranous colitis).
• You have kidney or liver problems, as your dose or monitoring may need to be adjusted.
• You have both kidney and liver disease, as your total daily dose may need to be limited.
• You have a history of stomach or bowel problems, especially colitis.
• You are malnourished or have liver disease, as you may need monitoring for blood clotting and possibly vitamin K supplementation.
• You notice unusual bleeding or bruising.

• Store Augtax injection below 25°C, protect it from direct sunlight.
• Do not store above 25°C and do not freeze.
• Keep it away from children and pets.
• Discard the unused medicine.

How Does It Work?

• Ceftriaxone works by killing the bacteria that cause infections. It does this by stopping the bacteria from building their protective outer wall, which they need to survive. Without this wall, the bacteria break apart and die, helping the infection clear up.
• Sulbactam helps certain antibiotics, like ceftriaxone, work better. Some bacteria can protect themselves by making a substance that breaks down antibiotics. Sulbactam blocks this protective substance, so the antibiotic can still attack and kill the bacteria.

Interactions with other medicines

• Probenecid can slow the elimination of sulbactam from the body, which may enhance its effects.
• Ceftriaxone can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills, so it is important to use an additional non-hormonal method (such as condoms) during treatment and for one month after finishing the medication.
