Asthakind LS Expectorant is a cough medication that contains a combination of ambroxol, guaifenesin, and levosalbutamol. It is used to treat productive coughs associated with airway spasms or constriction, particularly in conditions such as bronchitis and asthma. This medication is also effective for issues related to thick mucus, wheezing, and chest congestion. It works by relaxing airway muscles and thinning mucus, thereby facilitating expulsion. Asthakind LS is intended for use by adults and children aged 6 and older.
According to the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry, cough and cold medications should not be prescribed or dispensed to children under two years of age. These medications are generally not recommended for children under five years old. For children above that age, any use should be based on careful clinical evaluation and close supervision.
