Medical Description

Apristar capsule contains aprepitant and belongs to a class of medicines called NK1 (neurokinin-1) receptor antagonists. It is used to help prevent nausea and vomiting (anti-emetic) caused by certain chemotherapy medicines. It is also used to prevent nausea and vomiting that occurs after surgery (postoperative).

It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (neurokinin-1) in the brain that may cause nausea and vomiting during anti-cancer treatment (chemotherapy).

Apristar capsule can cause an allergic (hypersensitivity) reaction, so watch and report symptoms like skin rash, itching, hives, swelling, or breathing difficulty at any point during treatment to your doctor immediately.

Apristar capsule should be taken orally as prescribed by the doctor. Common side effects of Apristar capsule include tiredness, loose motions, weakness, indigestion, stomach pain, and hiccups. Some patients may develop changes in blood count and changes in liver enzyme levels, which may require monitoring as recommended by your doctor.

Before starting Apristar capsule, inform your doctor about any history of liver problems and all medicines you take, including over-the-counter products and herbal supplements. If you feel dizzy, tired, or unwell after taking Apristar capsule, avoid driving or operating machinery.
