Medical Description

Aldigesic P tablet is a painkiller medicine used to treat pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, spondylitis, and lower back pain. It can also relieve fever, headache, toothache, and ear pain. The active ingredients in Aldigesic P are aceclofenac and paracetamol. Aldigesic P works by inhibiting certain chemicals' action, which helps ease pain and swelling.

Aldigesic P tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as it may harm the fetus or nursing child. Therefore, it is advised to consult a doctor before taking it.

Aldigesic P should be taken as directed by the doctor and in the correct doses for the exact duration as prescribed. To avoid stomach problems, swallow it with a glass of water or after food. Do not skip a dose or consume more than that recommended by the doctor. Also, do not abruptly discontinue this medicine without first consulting your doctor.

Uses

Aldigesic P tablet is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and osteoarthritis by reducing pain and inflammation. It can also be used to treat muscle pain, back pain, toothache and ear and throat pain.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to aceclofenac, paracetamol or any of the ingredients of Aldigesic P tablet.
  • If you have a history of asthma, skin rashes, swelling & nasal congestion after taking aspirin, ibuprofen or other painkillers.
  • If you have any problems with your liver or kidney.
  • If you have a history of frequent stomach ulcers or bleeding.
  • If you are pregnant, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy.
  • If you are suffering from any severe heart problems like heart failure or high blood pressure.

Alcohol

Although there is no known interaction between alcohol and Aldigesic P tablet, it is essential to consult your physician if you have a habit of regular drinking. Consuming alcohol while taking pain killers is known to increase the risk of bleeding, ulcer and perforation in the stomach and intestine (upper gastrointestinal tract).

Symptoms of an overdose of Aldigesic P tablets include headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, unconsciousness, excitation, coma, dizziness, low blood pressure, fits and difficulty in breathing. Seek urgent medical help if you think you have taken too much Aldigesic P tablet.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed taking any dose of Aldigesic P tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How Does It Work?

Aldigesic P tablet works by interfering with the production of a chemical called prostaglandins, which is responsible for swelling and pain. Paracetamol also increases the pain threshold, thereby reducing the sensation of pain.

  • To avoid any possible interaction, tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take.
  • Especially if you are taking medicines for high blood pressure, steroidal medicines, painkillers, medicines for HIV, blood thinner medicines, antibiotics and medicines for diabetes.
  • Other medicines containing paracetamol should not be taken along with the Aldigesic P tablet.
  • Aldigesic tablets should not be used for 8-12 days after taking mifepristone, as the Aldigesic P tablet can reduce the effectiveness of mifepristone.
  • This medicine, if taken along with steroids, anticoagulants and particular brain-related medicine, can increase the risk of bleeding.
