Faropenem
Molecule Description
Faropenem is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections of the resp
iratory tract, urinary tract and skin infections. It works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of bacteria, which is an outer layer protecting bacteria. The absence of a cell wall will result in the death of the bacterial cells. Faropenem is available in the form of tablet. It belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting faropenem.

When should one not use Faropenem
- If you are allergic to faropenem or similar medicines
- If you are allergic to other antibiotics like penicillin, cephalosporins, monobactams, carbapenems.
Side effects of Faropenem

- Headache
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhoea

Alcohol
Other General Warnings
- You have problems with your kidneys.
- You experience a persistent diarrhoea
- You have a history of allergy to any antibiotics like penicillin, cephem, or carbapenem.
- You have an inherent tendency for allergic reactions (also known as atopy),
- You are malnourished or show any signs of vitamin K deficiency (easily bleed), your doctor might need you to monitor closely.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way faropenem works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction....
- Concomitant use of Imipenem and Cilastatin sodium along with this medicine should be avoided.
- If used along with water pills like Furosemide, it can cause adverse effects on the kidney.
- When it is used along with Sodium Valproate to treat fits/epilepsy can cause reoccurrence of fits or epilepsy.
