Molecule Description
Capixyl is a topical lotion used to stop and prevent loss of hair and to improve hair growth.
Uses
- Reduce hair loss
- Promote hair growth
- Improves any irritation or infections in the scalp that may cause hair loss
Contraindications
When should one not use Capixyl
In patients with a known allergic reaction to the Capixyl or any of its excipients.

How Does It Work?
Capixyl acts by reducing the substances that damage the hair (free radicals and dihydrotestosterone) and promotes the growth of proteins required for hair growth. It has a direct effect on the hair, such as strengthening hair follicles, anchors them firmly, and improves the health and vitality of hair.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Use the following medicines with caution:
- Birth control pills or any medicines that contain estrogen
- Medicines that prevent clot formation (Warfarin, Dalteparin, Enoxaparin, Heparin, etc.)
- Pain killers (Aspirin, Clopidogrel, Diclofenac, etc.)
- Lovastatin (lowers blood cholesterol), Ketoconazole and Itraconazole (antifungals), Fexofenadine (anti-allergic), antidepressants and anti-anxiety medicines (Triazolam, Amitryptiline), Glipizide (for diabetes) and Tamoxifen (anti-cancer medicine that reduces estrogen levels)
Interactions with food items
Capixyl can be consumed before or after meals.
Dosage
Overdose
Overdose can cause symptoms like itching, rashes, head ache, vaginal bleeding. Hence use it only as prescribed. Consult the doctor if any of these symptoms appear.
Missed a Dose
Capixyl is generally prescribed once a day or a few times a week. So, if you forget to apply at the usual time, you may use it as soon as you remember. As a safety precaution, make sure you have a 12-hour gap between two applications. But do not over apply to make up for a missed application.
