Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops is a combination medication containing ofloxacin and dexamethasone chloride as its active ingredients. It is a liquid medicine used as drops to treat bacterial infections of the ear/eye by topical application.
Ofloxacin belongs to a group of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. They are broad-spectrum antibiotics that work against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria along with anaerobes.
Dexamethasone chloride is a glucocorticoid (steroid) that works to reduce the effect of certain chemicals in the body which cause pain, redness, swelling and itching.
Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops is used in bacterial infections of the ears and eyes causing pain, itchiness, redness or swelling. The drops are used as per the advice of your physician and as many times as prescribed.
It may cause side effects like blurry vision, dizziness, nausea, irritation, burning sensation, dryness in the eyes or tingling in the ears.
Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops should be administered only under hygienic conditions. It should be used within four weeks of opening the bottle.
The use of eye lenses should be limited until the infection resolves completely. Prolonged use or abuse of Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops can cause developing resistance to antibiotics, glaucoma (increased intra eye pressure due to blocked drainage of the eye), cataract (cloudy eye lens) or other fungal infections. Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops is not advised for children below two years.

- Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the eyes and ears, including:
- Bacterial conjunctivitis
- Bacterial keratitis
- Blepharitis
- Bacterial stye
- Cellulitis
- Bacterial Otitis externa
- Serous otitis media (middle ear infection)
- Bacterial myringitis (eardrum infection)
Contraindications
- Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear drops is not given in patients of/given with caution:
- Allergy to ofloxacin or dexamethasone
- Viral infections of the ears and eyes
- Fungal infections of the ears and eyes
- Mybo-bacterial infections (tuberculous infections)
- Epithelial keratitis (fungal infection of the cornea)
- Heart patients - QT prolongation (inability of the heart muscle to relax normally between heartbeats)
- Diabetics

Directions for Use
- Clean your hands thoroughly before using Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops. Care should be taken to avoid touching the nozzle. Keep it away from the infected ear/eye.
- Put the drops in the ear of one side by tilting your head sideways. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes before medicating the next ear. Do a slight rotation below the earlobe to let the medication flow freely into the ear canal.
- Put the drops in the eyes near the lower eyelid, and pressurise the corner of your eyelid to prevent it from flowing into the nose and throat. Wait for 3 to 4 minutes before medicating the other eye. Blink your eyes 3 to 4 times to let the medication spread in the eye.
- Use of lenses should be minimal until the infection is resolved.
- Wipe away any excess medication and replace the cap on the bottle without rinsing or cleaning the dropper.
- Wash your hands after using the Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops. Use Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops externally.
- Check for the expiry date on the bottle before taking the Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops.
- Do not share Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops with anyone you know who has infection problems in the eyes or ears.
- Do not use it once the solution changes colour to brown or cloudy white.
- Do not change the Zynoff Dx bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear drops dose without consulting your physician.
- Talk to your physician if you do not feel better even after using it for seven days
Storage and disposal
Store Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops at room temperature (less than 30 C and away from direct sunlight). Keep it away from children and pets at home and should be stored to avoid potential misuse.
Dispose of any unused Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops along with other medical waste. Do not drain any unused Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops in sinks or washrooms. Do not throw away Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops in other household waste.

Overdose
Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops is only for external topical use. Ingestion of Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops is prohibited and rarely has been reported.
Overdose of Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops can be accidental due to taking extra medication to make up for missed doses/ taking extra doses when the prescribed dose is not working for you/ intentional.
Overdose of Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops can show symptoms like dilated pupils, warm tingling feeling in eyes/ ears, fever, agitation, glaucoma, cataract, partial blindness/deafness or fungal infections.
It is advised to report overdose cases with Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops to your emergency healthcare provider.
Missed a Dose
Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops has to be taken as many times as prescribed. If you miss a dose of Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops, you can take the missed dose as soon as you realise that you have missed the dose.
If the next scheduled dose is only a few hours away, it is advised not to take the missed dose and directly take the next scheduled dose and then continue as usual.
Do not double your dose without consulting your physician. Inform your physician about any missed dose/doses.

How Does It Work?
Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops contains two active ingredients: Ofloxacin and Dexamethasone chloride. It belongs to a group of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. They are broad-spectrum antibiotics and work against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including anaerobes. They act by reducing the enzyme bacterial DNA gyrase needed for DNA replication and repair for the multiplication of bacterial cells. Thus ofloxacin reduces bacterial infection by stopping bacterial multiplication.
Dexamethasone chloride is a glucocorticoid (steroid) essential for reducing the effect of chemicals that cause the body reaction of redness, pain, swelling, and itchiness, which happens in the presence of bacterial infections.
Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops works against the bacterial infections of the ears and eyes by reducing the bacterial count and the symptoms caused by the bacterial infection like redness, pain, and swelling.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Warfarin (anticoagulant) efficacy is increased by ofloxacin (an ingredient of Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear drops).
- Cyclosporine (immunosuppressant) increases the Ofloxacin levels in the blood.
Interactions with food items
- Zynoff Dx Bottle of 5ml Eye/Ear Drops does not react adversely with any food. A regular diet can be followed unless advised otherwise by your physician.
- Most antibiotics work better with healthy lifestyle changes like balanced eating, less oily food and increased liquid intake to prevent dehydration.
- Caffeine intake should be reduced to maintain the efficacy of the drops.
