Zolent plus tablet is a prescription drug for treating anxiety disorder. It combines two active ingredients: Alprazolam 0.25 mg and propranolol 10 mg. Alprazolam belongs to the class of benzodiazepines that functions by balancing the brain’s chemical substances that slow down brain activity and relax the overworked nervous system. Propranolol is a beta-blocker, which reduces the strain on the heart and blood vessels.

How Does It Work?
The Zolent plus tablet has two active ingredients: alprazolam and propranolol. Alprazolam belongs to the class of benzodiazepine medications. It binds to the brain receptors that increase GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) activity, a chemical messenger in the brain. Increasing effects of GABA causes suppression of the excessive and abnormal activity of the nerve cells. This results in feeling calmer.
Propranolol is a beta-blocker. It works by blocking certain chemical messengers like epinephrine, which helps in lowering blood pressure, heart rate, and stress on the heart.

Interactions with other medicines
- If you are taking antidepressant or mood-elevating medicines, when mixed with the Zolant plus tablets, it can cause adverse effects.
- The Zolant plus tablets can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives or birth control pills.
