Medical Description

Zocon-T Kit is a combi-kit containing two tablets of Tinidazole and one tablet of Fluconazole. It belongs to the antimicrobial class of medicine. Zocon-T Kit is used to treat bacterial, fungal or parasitic vaginal infections caused by various organisms. Tinidazole kills bacterial and parasitic organisms and Fluconazole kills fungi and inhibits their growth. It is majorly used for women with childbearing age. It should not be used by pregnant or nursing women. Take it as prescribed by your doctor for optimal benefit. You may experience abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhoea as a side effect of this medicine, these are temporary and go away on their own. If these symptoms do not resolve or worsen, consult with your doctor.

  • If you are allergic to Fluconazole, Tinidazole or any other component of Zocon-T Kit.
  • If you have any blood disorder.

Directions for Use

Zocon-T Kit should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Storage and disposal

  • Store at temperature below 25°C in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Overdose

Excess of Zocon-T Kit can cause hallucinations and other psychiatric symptoms. If you have consumed an excessive dose of it, contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed taking any dose of Zocon-T Kit, take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.

How Does It Work?

  • Tinidazole is an antibiotic, works by stopping the growth of the bacteria (or parasites) causing the infection.
  • Fluconazole is an antifungal, destroys the fungus that causes the infection by killing and stopping the fungus growth by destroying their cell membrane.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Concomitant use of cisapride (stomach acid-lowering medicine), terfenadine, astemizole (anti-allergic medicine), quinidine, amiodarone (heart medicine), pimozide (an antipsychotic medicine), halofantrine (antimalarial) and erythromycin (antibiotic) should be avoided or cautiously used with Zocon-T Kit as it can cause irregular heartbeat.
  • Water pills such as hydrochlorothiazide can increase the effect of Zocon-T Kit when used along.
  • Blood thinner medicine such as warfarin should be used cautiously and monitored closed when used along with Zocon-T Kit.
  • Effect of alfentanil, methadone (painkiller), amitriptyline, nortriptyline, midazolam, triazolam, carbamazepine (an antipsychotic medicine), nifedipine, isradipine, losartan (heart medicine), ciclosporin, tacrolimus (immunosuppressive) may increase and dose adjustment may be needed when used along with Zocon-T Kit.
  • Discuss with your doctor about any other medicines, herbal preparations and supplements you are taking currently to avoid any interactions.

No, do not stop taking Zocon-T Kit before the prescribed duration. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. You should complete the full course of treatment, else there are chances of recurrence of an infection.

Yes, the use of Zocon-T Kit can cause diarrhoea along with the desired effect. However, not everyone gets them. It is an antimicrobial that kills both good and bad bacteria when good bacteria present in the intestine gets killed, it can cause diarrhoea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea, talk to your doctor about it.

Zocon-T Kit is effective if you take it as per the dose and duration advised by your doctor. If you stop taking this tablet once you start feeling good, the chance of recurrence of the infection increases.
