Medical Description

Xtralite cream is used to treat melasma a type of skin condition characterized by dark patches. It contains two active ingredients, tretinoin and azelaic acid. It works by reducing the melanin content in the skin thereby reducing the dark patches. Use this medicine only on the recommendation of your doctor. Do not apply excess quantity. Avoid exposing yourself to the sun after the application of the cream. Clean and dry the skin area before the application of the cream. Talk to your doctor about your health condition before using the cream.

Overdose

As the Xtralite cream is meant for external application, cases of an overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied extra quantities of it wipe out the excess of the medicine with tissue or cotton

Missed a Dose

If you have missed applying the Xtralite cream, apply it as soon as possible. Do not over apply the medicine just to compensate for the missed dose.

How Does It Work?

  • Tretinoin is a type of vitamin A that helps to reduce the melanin content in the skin thereby fading the dark patches caused in melasma.
  • Azelaic acid belongs to a class of medicine known as dicarboxylic acid, it is anti-inflammatory in action, it helps to reduce the redness and swelling caused due to inflammation. It is also known to inhibit the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase which is required for the production of the skin pigment melanin.
