Warf 3 MG Description
The Warf Tablet is an oral anticoagulant or a blood thinner medicine. Warf is used to treat and prevent the formation of abnormal blood clots (thrombus) in the blood vessels. It is used in various di
seases associated with abnormal blood clots affecting the heart, brain, legs and lungs. It contains warfarin as an active ingredient. Warf works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme responsible for the clotting of blood. You should not take the Warf Tablet if you are pregnant, if you have high blood pressure, have an existing condition of risk of bleeding & recent history of surgery. It should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration prescribed. Before using the Warf Tablet, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.

Uses of Warf 3 MG
- Treatment and prevention of diseases where the blood vessels are obstructed (thromboembolic diseases) such as deep vein thrombosis (mainly affects legs) and thrombosis of other organs such as heart, lung, and brain due to blood clot formation....
- As an adjuvant in the treatment of obstruction of blood flow through the heart due to blood clots (coronary occlusion).
- It is also used to reduce the risk of death due to heart blockage.
Contraindications of Warf 3 MG
- If you are allergic to warfarin or any ingredient of Warf Tablet.
- If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, missed pregnancy, or any other pregnancy complications.
- If you are at risk of bleeding or have any known blood disorders.
- If you recently had or are about to have surgery on the eye or any other larger surface.
- If you have high blood pressure or accumulation of fluid around the heart.
- If you have a recent history of stroke due to bleeding in the brain or brain haemorrhages.
- If you have stomach ulcers or intestinal bleeding, urinary tract infection or respiratory tract problem.
- If you have any planned procedures such as a spinal puncture.
- If you are unaware, inform your doctor about your past medical condition.
- People who are difficult to co-operate such as alcoholics, with mental deterioration or psychiatric disorders.

- You have or experience any bleeding.
- You have or had an ulcer of the stomach and intestine, or stroke (decreased blood supply to the brain).
- You had or have planned any surgery such as tooth extraction, eye, etc.
- You have increased thyroid levels, infection or inflammation, cancer or tumour.
- You are an older person or giving it to a child, be cautious and more frequent monitoring of PT/INR is recommended.
- You are suffering from a rare condition where calcium builds up in blood vessels in the skin, as these medicines contain calcium.
- You notice any discolouration of the skin due to decreased blood supply, clot formation such as gangrene, necrosis, etc.
- You are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
Mode of Action of Warf 3 MG
How Does It Work?
- Warf Tablet contains warfarin which is structurally similar to vitamin K.
- Vitamin K is an essential factor required for blood clotting. Warfarin inhibits the action of an enzyme that maintains the adequate levels of vitamin K required for blood clotting.
Directions for Use of Warf 3 MG
- Warf Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
- Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
- You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not change your dose or stop taking this medicine on your own.

Interactions with other medicines
- Sometimes medicines can interfere with the action of Warf Tablet or Warf itself can affect the action of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Always inform your doctor about all the medicine you are taking, which includes all prescribed or non-prescribed herbal medicines, dietary supplements as well as other treatments if you are taking for any disorder....
- In particular, if you are on certain medications like antiplatel medicines, anticoagulants like heparin, antibiotics like clindamycin, medicines used to treat heart and brain-related disorders, cholesterol-lowering medicines painkillers etc....
- Other medicines that should be used with caution are antihypertensive medicines like atorvastatin, medicines used to treat underactive thyroid glands like levothyroxine, anti-HIV medicines etc.
- The anticoagulant effect of Warf Tablet may be diminished, when taken along with certain medicines anti-cancer medicines, anti-epileptic medicines, St John’s Wort (herbal medicine for brain disorder), oral contraceptives, water pills like furosemide, immunosuppressants etc....
Interactions with food items
- Food containing a high amount of Vitamin K such as Spinach & broccoli should be avoided while using this medicine.
- Avoid consuming cranberry juice along with this medicine as it may increase the effect of this medicine.

- Store Warf Tablet in original packing to protect it from sunlight.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
