Vaxiflu S is an influenza vaccine. It is administered for prophylaxis (prevention) against flu (influenza). This vaccine contains inactivated strains of the virus as the main component.

Flu is a disease that can spread fast. It is caused by different types of viral strains. The greatest risk of catching the flu is during the cold months. Your doctor will be able to recommend the best time to be vaccinated.

Vaccines provide prevention against infectious diseases. It activates the immune system to fight the infection by producing antibodies. This vaccine contains an inactivated form of viral strains and cannot cause the infection against which it protects you.

Influenza vaccines given to a nursing mother do not affect the safety of breastfeeding for mothers or infants. Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to the influenza vaccine. Immunization of the mother increases the number of influenza antibodies in breast milk and may offer added protection for their breastfed infants against influenza. Breastfed infants should be vaccinated according to the routine recommended schedules. Your doctor will be able to decide if you should receive this vaccine.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Vaxiflu S vaccine?

This vaccine has negligible influence on the ability to drive. However, if you feel like dizziness then avoid driving.

Talk to your doctor if

If you are taking medicines that affect the immune system or you have poor immune response i.e. immunodeficiency.
If you have bleeding problems or bruising easily.
Inform your doctor if for any reason you have a blood test within a few days following flu vaccination. As there are chances of false positive blood test results if recently been vaccinated.
If you have a high temperature your doctor may postpone the vaccination until you have recovered.
