Medical Description

Vasoflav Tablet is a combination medicine. It is used for the treatment of piles (haemorrhoids) and varicose veins (enlarged & twisted veins). This Tablet contains diosmin and hesperidin as its main ingredients. It is a flavonoid-based venoactive medicine. Piles is a condition of swollen blood vessels in and around your anus causing pain and itching. The Varicose vein is a twisted or enlarged vein just beneath your skin mainly seen in the legs. This medicine works by improving the blood flow in veins and helps restore their function relieving symptoms of piles and varicose veins. The dose duration and frequency of taking Vasoflav will be decided by your doctor after accessing your condition. Take the Vasoflav Tablet as prescribed and for the exact prescribed duration. Do not use any other medicines with it before consulting your doctor. While taking this medicine it is important to make certain dietary and lifestyle modifications to manage your condition. You should also try to consume a healthy fibrous diet, drink plenty of water, avoid straining during bowel movements and sitting too long in the toilet. Taking warm baths several times a day may also help relieve pain.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

There is limited information about the effects of Vasoflav Tablet in human pregnancy. You should consult your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be or are planning for a baby before starting this medicine.

Breast Feeding

There is limited information about the effect of Vasoflav Tablet on breastmilk. Hence, you should not breastfeed while taking this medicine. You should consult your doctor before using this medicine during breastfeeding.

Driving

There is limited information about the effects of Vasoflav Tablet on driving. If you do not feel well or are unable to be alert, you should avoid driving.

Alcohol

It is advisable not to consume alcohol while on treatment with Vasoflav Tablet as alcohol itself can worsen the condition of haemorrhoids.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

Your symptoms of haemorrhoids do not improve after 15 days of use of this medicine consult your doctor.
If you have problems with your liver or kidney
Avoid long time standing and try and reduce weight and take other measures advised by your doctors like avoiding exposure to sun and heat.
Avoid tight clothes and rinse your legs with cold water to improve blood circulation.
Drink more water and take a high fibre diet to avoid constipation like fruits, green vegetables and whole grains.
Avoid fatty food, coffee and spicy food. Do not carry too heavy objects and do regular exercise.
Do not share or use this medicine in patients with similar complaints before consulting your doctor.
Vasoflav Tablet is used for short term treatment.

Directions for Use

Take Vasoflav Tablet as a whole with sufficient amount of water.
Always take this medicine regularly and exactly as your doctor has told you.
You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Storage and disposal

Store Vasoflav Tablets at room temperature in a cool and dry place.
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children and pets.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

Missing a dose of Vasoflav Tablet may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

How Does It Work?

Vasoflav Tablets increase the tone of venous blood vessels and increase resistance in small blood vessels and protect the veins. It also improves venous circulation which helps in reducing pain and swelling associated with haemorrhoids and other venous circulatory disorders. Hesperidin is a flavonoid that, along with Diosmin helps in improving symptoms of disturbed venous circulation like haemorrhoids and varicose veins.

Vasoflav Tablet improves the tone of veins of the affected areas and protects the veins so the blood circulation in conditions like haemorrhoids and varicose veins improves.

If your symptoms don’t improve even after using Vasoflav Tablets for 15 days or you may experience any serious symptoms like continuous abdominal or abnormal heart rhythms, consult your doctor immediately.

You may experience stomach discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea with it. However, not everyone taking this medicine gets these side effects. Also, these symptoms are manageable and usually mild.

You should take Vasoflav exactly as advised by the doctor. It should preferably be taken with or after meals.

You should take Vasoflav for as long as the doctor has prescribed you. The doctor will decide the specific dose for a specific duration depending upon the severity of the condition. Do not exceed the maximum daily doses and treatment durations recommended.

Vasoflav should be taken exactly as told by the doctor, day or night. However, it should preferably be taken with meals for maximum absorption of the medicine and good results.
