Medical Description

Valdy TZ tablet is used for short-term relief of inflammatory pain, muscle-related pain, stiffness and muscle spasm. It contains a combination of valdecoxib and tizanidine. Valdecoxib is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever that lowers chemical signals causing pain and swelling, while tizanidine acts in the brain and spinal cord to relax tight muscles. The tablet is swallowed whole with water, with or without food, exactly as prescribed. It is intended for people whose pain includes inflammation or muscle tightness and should be used only under medical advice.

How does this medicine work?

Valdecoxib lowers the production of chemical messengers that cause pain, swelling and tenderness. Tizanidine acts in the brain and spinal cord to reduce signals that make muscles tighten. Together, the ingredients address both inflammation-related pain and muscle spasm.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Valdy TZ tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines or aspirin can increase stomach bleeding risk; blood thinners and corticosteroids can also increase bleeding. Medicines for high blood pressure and water tablets may work less well and increase kidney strain. Sedatives and sleeping medicines can add to sleepiness. Ciprofloxacin and fluvoxamine can greatly increase tizanidine effects, causing severe sleepiness or low blood pressure, so they should not be combined unless a doctor specifically manages the treatment.

Interactions with food items

Taking Valdy TZ tablet with food may reduce stomach discomfort. No specific food interaction is known.
