Medical Description

Unito tablet is a combination antibiotic used for susceptible bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissues, airways and lungs, ear, nose and throat, and urinary system. It contains cefpodoxime and dicloxacillin, two antibiotics that work against susceptible bacteria in different ways but both weaken the protective cell wall. Their combined action helps clear the prescribed infection while the body recovers. Unito tablet is swallowed whole with water and should be used only for the infection and treatment plan prescribed by a doctor. Do not share it or use it for an unconfirmed illness.

  • Urinary tract infections: The combination treats susceptible bacterial infections of the urinary system that can cause painful urination or other urinary symptoms.

How does this medicine work?

Cefpodoxime and dicloxacillin are antibiotics that work independently against susceptible bacteria. Each interferes with construction of the bacterial cell wall, causing the bacteria to weaken and die.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Unito tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention antacids and acid-reducing medicines, which can lower antibiotic absorption; blood thinners such as warfarin, which may increase bleeding risk; and probenecid, which can slow removal of the antibiotics and increase their levels.

Interactions with food items

Calcium-rich foods, dairy products and mineral supplements may affect absorption. Follow your doctor's instructions about taking Unito tablet with food and separating mineral products.
