Uses
- Tryptinol 10 mg Tablet is used in,
- Treatment of depression
- Treatment of eating disorders like bulimia nervosa
- To prevent migraine attacks
- Treatment of peripheral neuropathy (pain in the nerves)
Contraindications
- If you have hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Tryptinol 10 mg Tablet.
- If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
- If you have any liver disease.

- Allergic reactions like skin rash or generalised swelling in the body
- Hypotension
- Palpitation
- Confusion and disorientation

- You have suicidal thoughts or an urge to harm yourself.
- You have vision problems. If you experience tenderness, swelling, or redness in the eyes, consult your doctor immediately.
- You have diabetes.
- Tryptinol increases the sensitivity to sunlight. Take appropriate precautions while going out.
- Tryptinol 10 mg tablets should be used with caution in the elderly population. Since, side effects can be more severe for them.
Directions for Use
- Take Tryptinol Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- For optimal pharmacological effects, take the prescribed dosage of Tryptinol Tablet at the same time every day for the entire duration of treatment.
- Do not discontinue the use or alter the dose of Tryptinol Tablet without consulting your physician first.
- Take Tryptinol Tablet as a whole. Do not crush or break it.
- Tryptinol 10 mg tablets can be taken at any time of the day (preferably at night since it causes sleepiness).

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Tryptinol Tablet should not be consumed with the following medicines:
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors like linezolid, isocarboxazid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline) since the combination can cause life-threatening effects.
- Anticoagulants like clopidogrel since it increases the chances of bleeding.
- Medicines that cause drowsiness like antihistamines (cetirizine), anti-anxiety medicines (alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem), and analgesics (codeine)
- Medicines that affect the metabolism of amitriptyline like cimetidine and antifungal (terbinafine).
- Medicines that affect the heart rhythm like amiodarone, procainamide, quinidine, cisapride, and antibiotics (erythromycin).
Interactions with food items
- Unless advised otherwise by the doctor, a regular diet can be continued.
