Tryptinol 10 mg Tablet is an antidepressant. The active ingredient of this medicine is amitriptyline which belongs to the class of tricyclic antidepressants. This medicine balances the chemical subst
ances in the brain and prevents the pain signals from reaching the brain. It is therefore used in the treatment of depression and neuropathic pain. The most common side effects associated with the use of Tryptinol 10 mg Tablet are constipation, dryness of mouth, nausea, decrease in blood pressure, palpitations, and blurred vision. Most of these side effects are mild and should not affect your day-to-day activities. However, if their severity increases or you start having suicidal thoughts, immediately consult your doctor. Tryptinol 10 mg Tablets should be taken at a dose prescribed by the doctor. It should be continued for the recommended duration. It is advisable to take the medicine at a particular time of the day to maintain the balance of the neurotransmitters. However, you should not stop taking the medicine abruptly as it can worsen your condition. The medicine usually takes 4-6 weeks or more to start having its effect. It is not advisable to use automobiles after taking Tryptinol 10 mg Tablet since it can cause drowsiness and confusion. It is not recommended to take this medicine if you have liver disease. This medicine doesn't have addictive potential. It can cause weight gain. Hence, weight should be monitored.

Directions for Use of Tryptinol 10 MG
- Take Tryptinol Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- For optimal pharmacological effects, take the prescribed dosage of Tryptinol Tablet at the same time every day for the entire duration of treatment.
- Do not discontinue the use or alter the dose of Tryptinol Tablet without consulting your physician first.
- Take Tryptinol Tablet as a whole. Do not crush or break it.
- Tryptinol 10 mg tablets can be taken at any time of the day (preferably at night since it causes sleepiness).
Interactions of Tryptinol 10 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Tryptinol Tablet should not be consumed with the following medicines:
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors like linezolid, isocarboxazid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline) since the combination can cause life-threatening effects.
- Anticoagulants like clopidogrel since it increases the chances of bleeding.
- Medicines that cause drowsiness like antihistamines (cetirizine), anti-anxiety medicines (alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem), and analgesics (codeine)
- Medicines that affect the metabolism of amitriptyline like cimetidine and antifungal (terbinafine).
- Medicines that affect the heart rhythm like amiodarone, procainamide, quinidine, cisapride, and antibiotics (erythromycin).
Interactions with food items
- Unless advised otherwise by the doctor, a regular diet can be continued.
