Mode of Action of Toficalm 100 MG
How Does It Work?
The pharmacological component of Toficalm is a medication called Tofisopam. This medication is a derivative of a group of medications called benzodiazepines. It acts by increasing the amount of certain chemical in the brain called GABA (gamma-amino-butyric acid). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter. This means that it is a chemical that sends suppressing signals to the nerves in the part of the body in which it is secreted. In people suffering from anxiety and depression, there is an excessive and abnormal activity of nerve cells in the brain. This activity can be suppressed by increasing the secretion of GABA in the brain.
Another possible mechanism through which this medication acts is by inhibiting an enzyme known as Phosphodiesterase, which leads to an increase of certain substances in the brain known as secondary messengers. These substances are essential for the normal functioning of the brain....
