Tazloc Ct 40/6.25mg Strip Of 10 Tablets Description

Tazloc Ct Tablet contains a combination of Chlorthalidone and Telmisartan, used to lower the raised blood pressure when it cannot be managed using a single component medicine. It belongs to the class

of medicines known as 'Diuretics' and 'Angiotensin receptor blocker (ARBs)' respectively. It is broadly classified as antihypertensive medications. It acts by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing diuresis, which acts in a synergistic manner to lower the raised blood pressure. Tazloc Ct Tablet should not be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not abruptly stop taking this medicine as it may cause a sudden hypertensive crisis and worsen the health further. Always take it as prescribed and advised by your doctor.

  • If you are allergic to Telmisartan or Chlorthalidone or any other ingredients of Tazloc Ct Tablet.
  • If you are allergic to antibiotics like Sulfasalazine and any other drugs from this class.
  • If you are a pregnant & breastfeeding women.
  • If you have serious liver disorders and problems related to the bile duct (a canal connecting the liver to the intestine) like cholestasis.
  • If you feel difficulty in passing urine or passing no urine at all (anuria).
  • If your blood test shows a significant increase in calcium and decrease in potassium levels.
  • If you have diabetes or kidney problems and you are taking medicines for lowering the blood pressure like Aliskiren.

How Does It Work?

  • Telmisartan lowers blood pressure by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin, responsible for narrowing the blood vessels and rise in blood pressure.
  • Chlorthalidone acts by increasing the production of urine and loss of water and salt from the body, thereby lowering the blood pressure.

Q: What is Chlorthalidone? Is it the same as Chlorothiazide?

A: Chlorthalidone is a diuretic (water pill - increases the production of urine) like Hydrochlorothiazide but it is not a thiazide diuretic. Chlorthalidone is more potent and longer-acting compared to Chlorothiazide. Chlorthalidone is commonly used for the treatment of high blood pressure and oedema (fluid overload) associated with the heart, kidney or liver diseases or due to other medications.

Q: Is there anything else I need to know before taking Tazloc Ct Tablet?

A: Serum electrolytes should be regularly monitored while on treatment with Tazloc Ct Tablet because it may alter blood potassium, sodium and chloride levels. Renal function also needs to be monitored closely as this medicine can compromise the functioning of kidneys in some patients. This medicine should not be used in children and adolescents below 18 years of age.

A: The excess fluid that builds up in the body gets eliminated via urine, thereby lowering your blood pressure and provide relief from oedema.
