Taxim O 50 MG/5ML Description

Taxim-O Dry syrup is an antibiotic used in children to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, tonsils, throat, airways, ear, and urinary tract. It is also used to treat typhoid fever. This medication is intended for children and should be administered under the supervision of an adult.

Taxim-O Dry syrup's main active ingredient is cefixime. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, eventually killing the bacteria. Inform your doctor before giving this medicine to your children if your child is allergic to antibiotics or has had any allergic reactions after taking antibiotics. Give this medication to your child exactly as directed and for the duration specified.

Do not give this medication to your child if they have a viral infection such as a cold or flu. Always finish your child's antibiotic course; failing to finish the course or missing any dose of antibiotics can result in therapy failure.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

^

Q: What do you mean by inappropriate use of antibiotics?

A: Inappropriate use of antibiotics constitutes taking antibiotics when not needed, for wrong diseases, taking inappropriate dosage and not completing the course of antibiotic treatment as prescribed by doctor.

Q: I have fever and cold, can I take this medicine?

A: No, this medicine is a higher antibiotic and reserved for severe infections. This medicine should be taken only if your doctor considers it essential for you. Also, this medicine is not meant for viral infections.

Q: What is antibiotic resistance?

A: Antibiotic resistance is a natural process. It occurs when an antibiotic fails to efficiently control the growth or kill bacteria causing infection. A bacteria resistant to antibiotics continues to multiply in the presence of antibiotics, which would normally kill them. As resistance develops, these antibiotic medicines become gradually less effective – and eventually, they lose their effectiveness entirely. Antibiotic resistance is a consequence of the excessive use of antibiotics and misuse even when not required.
