Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

S Citadep Plus contains two active ingredients - Clonazepam-0.5mg and Escitalopram-5mg. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine class of medicine that acts as a GABA-A receptor agonist. GABA (Gamma Amino Butyric Acid) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter. By binding to the GABA-A receptor, it enhances the inhibitory effects of GABA, resulting in sedative, anti-anxiety, and muscle relaxant properties and thus, relieving anxiety and depression symptoms. Escitalopram is an antidepressant. Serotonin is a natural chemical messenger responsible for controlling behavioural processes such as mood, fear, anger, appetite, memory etc. It belongs to the Selective Serotonin Reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) class of medicine. It works by preventing the reuptake of a chemical messenger called serotonin, which results in an increased level of serotonin in the brain.
