Rozel injection contains denosumab, a medication that strengthens bones. It is prescribed for various conditions related to bone health. These include treating osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high fracture risk, addressing bone loss caused by long-term steroid use, and preventing bone loss in men undergoing hormone therapy for prostate cancer and women receiving treatment for breast cancer.

Rozel injection is administered by a healthcare professional and should never be self-injected. To enhance its effectiveness, ensure you're taking adequate calcium and vitamin D supplements. Common side effects may include headache, pain in extremities, musculoskeletal pain, nerve pain, constipation, and rash. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen.

Uses

Rozel injection is used to treat various conditions related to bone health. Contraindications

  • If you have any allergy to denosumab or any other ingredient of this medicine.
  • If your blood calcium level is low (hypocalcemia).

  • Urinary tract infection
  • Constipation
  • Pain or discomfort in the abdomen
  • Itching, dryness and redness on the skin
  • Hair loss
  • Numbness or tingling sensation that goes down your legs (sciatica)
  • Respiratory tract infection
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Ear infection

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

  • You experience any unusual pain in the thigh, groin or hips.
  • You experience any pain, swelling, redness or sores around your jaws, redness, swelling or pain in the skin etc.
  • You are below 18 years of age.
  • You have a habit of smoking or chewing tobacco.
  • You are diagnosed with any cancer.
  • You are on steroid therapy (oral or injectable).
  • You are taking any other medicines for the treatment of bone loss.
  • You experience numbness or tingling sensations, loss of consciousness, and confusion- it may be due to low levels of calcium in the blood.

Directions for Use

Your doctor or nurse will administer this medication to you. Please do not attempt to self-administer.

Storage and disposal

Store Rozel injection in the refrigerator between (2°C to 8°C) in its original carton.

Missed a Dose

Rozel injection is administered by a healthcare professional, so missed doses are unlikely. If you do miss a dose, consult your doctor. If it’s close to the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Bone loss occurs when specialized cells called osteoclasts break down bone tissue. These cells are controlled by certain proteins in the body. Denosumab works by blocking these proteins, preventing the osteoclasts from being activated. By inhibiting this process, Denosumab slows down bone destruction and helps prevent bone-related complications, particularly in individuals with cancer.
