Risdone suspension is used to treat schizophrenia (a mental condition that causes hallucinations or delusions and impairs a person's ability to think and behave) as well as mania.
Schizophrenia is a mental illness that affects a person's capacity to think, feel, and act. It compels him to behave in unique ways. Risdone suspension helps correct chemical imbalances in the brain that underlie these symptoms.
Mania is an extremely happy or enthusiastic state of mind. Risdone suspension helps to calm the mind and soothe the nerves. Risdone will improve your social life. In addition, it allows you to go about your daily activities with greater ease. Other uses of Risdone suspension are in treating manic disorder, bipolar disorder, and short term treatment of conduct disorder.
Risdone suspension is best taken at night, either with or without meals. Take this medication precisely as your doctor prescribes, in the dose and for the duration specified, and if you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. It's critical not to stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor first, as doing so could make your symptoms worse.
Risdone suspension's side effects include insomnia, sleepiness, somnolence, parkinsonism, and headache. It may also cause dizziness or sleepiness, so don't drive or do anything else that requires mental focus until you've seen how this medication affects you. This suspension may cause you to gain weight, but you can reduce this adverse effect by eating a nutritious diet and exercising regularly.

Contraindications
- If you get Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), stop taking this drug immediately
- If you are allergic to any ingredients in Risdone suspension, avoid taking it
- If you have a history of liver illness, this drug should be used with caution. While using this medication, it is essential to keep a close eye on your liver function
- If you have diabetes, Risdone suspension can affect your blood sugar levels
- If you have a history of kidney disease, this drug should be used with caution
- If you have a history of seizures, Risdone suspension is unsafe for you
- If you have psychosis, this medication is not for you
- If you have dyslipidemia, it raises the risk of cardiac illness, such as heart failure, and infectious diseases

Overdose
Risperidone overdosing is unusual, but it can be lethal. All antipsychotics generate extrapyramidal side effects (EPS), such as rapid dystonic reactions, which can cause breathing difficulty owing to pharyngeal and laryngeal muscle spasms. An overdose can manifest into severe drowsiness, a racing heart, light-headedness, fainting, and restless muscle movements in the eyes, mouth, jaw, or neck. Please visit your nearest emergency department if you suspect an overdose.
Missed a Dose
Take the suspension as soon as you realise you've missed a dose. If the next scheduled dose is less than 4 hours away, the missed dose should be avoided.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Sedatives or anti-anxiety medication (such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem) can magnify its sedative effect with Risdone suspension
- Opioids, pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone) can interact with risperidone causing withdrawal symptoms
- Muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine) interact with Risdone suspension, causing abnormal muscle twitching
- Antihistamines (such as chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine) can intensify the side effects of Risdone suspension
