Respidon 2 MG Description
Respidon Tablet is used to treat schizophrenia. It contains risperidone that belongs to the group of atypical antipsychotics. This medicine is also used to treat episodes of mania, mixed episodes of
mania and depression in adults and bipolar disorder in children above 10 years of age. Respidon Tablet helps manage behaviour problems, mood changes, and aggressiveness. Schizophrenia is a mental illness that results in unusual thinking, lack of interest in life, and inappropriate emotions. Bipolar disorder is a mental health disorder that causes extreme mood swings ranging from emotional lows (depression) to emotional highs (mania). Side effects of Respidon Tablet include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn, increased appetite, weight gain, stomach pain, anxiety, agitation, dry mouth, increased saliva, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, restlessness, dreaming more than usual, breast enlargement or discharge, muscle or joint pain, dry or discoloured skin, late or missed menstrual periods, decreased sexual ability, vision problems, difficulty urinating, dizziness, feeling unsteady, or having trouble keeping your balance. However, these symptoms may disappear on their own. Consult your physician if the side effects last longer.

Contraindications of Respidon 2 MG
- If you are allergic to risperidone
- If you are an alcoholic or you drink large amounts of alcohol
- If you have Parkinson’s disease
- If you have high blood cholesterol levels
- If you have chest pain
- If you have diabetes mellitus
- If you have had a heart attack
- If you have a kidney, liver, or heart disease
- If you have a history of stroke
- If you have a history of seizures
- If you have phenylketonuria (a hereditary condition that requires you to follow a special diet to prevent brain damage)

Mode of Action of Respidon 2 MG
How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Respidon 2 MG
- Take Respidon Tablet as advised by your physician.
- Remember to take medicine at the same time daily to avoid missing your dose.
- Take Respidon Tablet orally by mouth with a glass of water.
- Take Respidon Tablet with or without meals.
- Do not stop taking Respidon Tablet on your own.
- Do not alter the dose of Respidon Tablet on your own.
Interactions of Respidon 2 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Antihypertensives (medicines used to lower blood pressure) like metoprolol, amlodipine, atenolol may lower your blood pressure.
- Antacids like ranitidine & cimetidine increase the bioavailability of Respidon Tablet.
- Anti-seizure medicines like carbamazepine reduce the plasma concentration of Respidon Tablet.
- Antidepressants like fluoxetine & paroxetine reduce the plasma concentration of Respidon Tablet.
- Medicines used to treat Parkinson’s disease like levodopa (Respidon Tablet may interfere with the activity of these medicines)
Interactions with food items
- There are no known interactions of Respidon Tablet with food.
