Contraindications of Recol 20 MG
- If you are allergic to lovastatin or any other ingredients of Recol Tablet.
- If you have liver disease and your liver tests are abnormal.
- If you are being treated with medicines for fungal infections (itraconazole, ketoconazole), HIV/AIDS (atazanavir, delavirdine), bacterial infections (erythromycin), or depression (nefazodone). If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor. ...

Talk to your doctor if
- You are taking any other medicines for treating any health condition.

- You have a personal or familial history of hereditary muscular disorders.
- You have a previous history of muscular toxicity with a statin or fibrate.

- You experience muscle pain, weakness, or cramps during treatment with this medicine.
- You experience symptoms like difficulty breathing, dry cough, and deterioration in general health (tiredness, weight loss, and fever).
- You have high blood pressure or diabetes.
Mode of Action of Recol 20 MG
How Does It Work?
Recol Tablet works by preventing the action of a chemical called HMG-CoA reductase. This chemical is essential for cholesterol formation. Thus, Recol Tablet lowers total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) also known as bad cholesterol. It also increases the levels of good cholesterol known as high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C)....
Directions for Use of Recol 20 MG
- Recol Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
- Take it as a whole with a sufficient amount of water.
- It should preferably be taken with meals.
- Do not chew, cut, or break the medicine.
- It would be best if you take it at a fixed time every day.
- Do not consume more than the quantity prescribed by your doctor.
Interactions of Recol 20 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Recol Tablet works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- The risk of myopathy may be increased when Recol Tablet is used together with medicines for treating fungal infections (itraconazole, ketoconazole), bacterial infections (erythromycin), HIV/AIDS (indinavir, delavirdine), and depression (nefazodone), and hence, concomitant use should be avoided....
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines like cyclosporine (used to stop the rejection of organs after a transplant), verapamil (used to treat high blood pressure and control heart-related chest pain), gemfibrozil (used to reduce the amount of cholesterol and other fatty substances), and niacin (used to treat vitamin B deficiency)....
- The risk of myopathy and breakdown of muscle tissue is increased by concomitant administration of danazol (used to treat endometriosis), and fusidic acid (used to treat bacterial infections) with Recol Tablet....
- When this medicine and coumarin anticoagulants (warfarin) are given concomitantly, blood clotting time may be increased.
Interactions with food items
Large quantities of grapefruit juice should not be consumed during treatment with Recol Tablet.
Storage and disposal of Recol 20 MG
- Store Recol Tablet below 30 °C in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Dosage of Recol 20 MG
Overdose
If you think you have taken too much of Recol Tablet, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you missed any dose of Recol Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one....
