Prolomet AM 50 tablet is an antihypertensive medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure, angina pectoris (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart). It contains amlodipine and metoprolol as their active ingredients. It is also used for the treatment of coronary heart disease (a heart condition where blood vessels supplying blood to your heart muscle gets narrowed). High blood pressure and heart related diseases are critical health conditions, if not treated, can affect other organs such as the brain, kidneys and blood vessels. Taking this medicine regularly as prescribed by your doctor along with other lifestyle modifications can help you control your blood pressure better.

Uses

Prolomet AM 50 tablet is used for the treatment of high blood pressure and is also useful for heart-related chest pain, abnormal heart rhythms and chronic heart failure.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
If you have any heart-related conditions such as heart failure problems, irregular heartbeats and heart blockage.
If you have a blood circulation problem due to which affects the blood supply to different body parts.
If you have a hormone-secreting tumour in the adrenal gland (Pheochromocytoma).
If you are suffering from metabolic acidosis, a condition when the body produces excess acid.

Pregnancy

Breast Feeding

Driving

This medicine may make you dizzy and feel sleepy. You should avoid driving if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert.

Alcohol

Although there is no known interaction with alcohol along with this medicine. So, it is important to consult your physician if you drink too often. However, alcohol intake along with this medicine sometimes may cause a drop in blood pressure. It is advised to limit the consumption of alcohol during the treatment.

You have a circulation related problem in the toes, arm, legs or fingers.
You have any heart problems like heart attack, chest pain or heart surgery.
You experience skin diseases like psoriasis.
You have asthma.
You have diabetes, then caution is required. This medicine may cause low blood sugar levels and also change the body’s response to low blood sugar. You may not experience warning signs of low blood sugar such as an increase in heart rate, sweating, hunger pangs, headache, etc.
You are an elderly person and have muscle weakness.
This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

Prolomet AM 50 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine. It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results and should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Symptoms of an overdose include low blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, heart failure, shock, loss of consciousness, coma, nausea, vomiting, bluish colour of the lips, tongue and skin, low levels of potassium or calcium in the blood. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed taking any dose of this medicine take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Prolomet AM 50 table works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing down the heart rate to improve blood flow. This leads to a decrease in blood pressure and relieves chest pain. It also improves blood circulation in heart muscles and controls chest pain due to angina.

Interactions with other medicines

Prolomet AM 50 tablet can affect the action of other medicines or other medicines can alter the action of Amlong Mt Tablet if taken at the same time. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, herbals and supplements you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interactions.
You may experience an excess drop in blood pressure if you are taking any other blood pressure-lowering medicine, antifungal medicines and antibiotics with this medicine.
Medicines that are used for irregular heartbeats if taken along with this medicine can lead to a drop in blood pressure and slow heartbeats.
Other medicines such as immunomodulators, muscle relaxants, pain killers, cholesterol-lowering medicines should be used cautiously.

Interactions with food items

Grapefruit juice should be avoided during the treatment with Prolomet AM 50 tablet.
