  • You develop a new or worsening cough or difficulty breathing, which could indicate inflammation of the lungs, your doctor may need to interrupt or permanently stop treatment.
  • You have liver problems, especially severe ones, as your doctor may need to adjust your treatment.

Overdose

Taking too much may cause severe low blood counts, infection, fever, diarrhoea, or unusual bleeding. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

How does this medicine work?

Palbociclib blocks proteins needed for cell division. This slows the growth of abnormal tumour cells when the medicine is combined with the treatment selected by an oncology specialist.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Tell your oncology team about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. Strong CYP3A inhibitors, including some antifungals and antibiotics, can increase palbociclib exposure; strong CYP3A inducers, including some seizure medicines and St John's wort, can reduce it.

Interactions with food items

Take the capsule with food as directed and avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice because they may raise medicine levels. Do not start supplements without oncology approval.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
