Medical Description

Nextril Tablets come under the therapeutic classification of benzodiazepines. Nextril Tablets are most commonly used for the treatment of anxiety and depression. Anxiety is a feeling of fear & uneasiness that causes increased alertness, excessive and persistent worry. It relieves anxiety symptoms by producing a calming effect in the brain. Nextril Tablets are composed of tofisopam. Nextril Tablet is a prescription medicine, and it is to be taken exactly as suggested by the physician. Do not take in more than prescribed amounts as it may cause harmful side effects. Consult your physician immediately if you experience any side effects, worsening of your condition, or allergic side effects. Do not stop taking the medicine even if you feel better. It is essential to follow the complete course of treatment suggested by your physician. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Consult your doctor as they may taper the dosage gradually before stopping it completely to prevent withdrawal symptoms like nausea, aggressive behaviour, anxiety, confusion. Driving

Driving

It is not advisable to drive or operate any heavy machinery that requires high mental alertness when taking Nextril Tablets. It can cause dizziness and visual disturbances that can disturb your mental focus and ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any side effects.

It is not recommended to consume alcohol if you are taking Nextril Tablets. Interaction of this medicine with alcohol can cause dizziness, sleepiness and drowsiness.

Keep your tablets in the packaging until it is time to take them. Do not throw away the medicines with household waste. Dispose of the expired/unused medicine immediately as biomedical waste. Do not use it post the date of expiry stated on the label.

  • Interaction with other antipsychotic medicines and benzodiazepines like lorazepam diazepam can increase the risk and severity of side effects.
  • Interaction with anticoagulant medicines like Acenocoumarol can increase the anticoagulant's serum concentration, leading to increased chances of bleeding.
  • Interaction with tricyclic antidepressants like Amoxapin, Amitriptyline can cause Central Nervous system Depressant effects.

Interactions with food items

  • Unless your physician suggests, there is no need to avoid any particular type of food or drink when taking a Nextril Tablet. Some may suggest avoiding caffeine-containing beverages like coffee & tea as they may reduce the calming effect of this medicine.
